Food and service were excellent. The event was a milestone birthday for my wife and the restaurant did an excellent job highlighting this at the end of the meal. This was very much appreciated!

The experience was great the Cassoulet was spectacular. I want to come back to have the Steak au poivre. Would love if it was at a better price point. The Croque Monsieur I had on Saturday was amazing. Maria Alejandra was super attentive and professional. Noise continues to be an issue. Perhaps acoustic panels (squares) to match the tin ceiling with sound-absorbing materials would help. We normally paint them the same color as the ceiling, and they significantly reduce the noise. They are class A fire rated so you should not have an problem. Food is just ALWAYS amazing! Re-discovered you (used to go there often while in grad school) and ABSOLUTELY love the place! NOT good for children, so don't bring them please, it is an intimate space, tables are cozied up together (which is awesome) and as mentioned above, sound is an issue, so you will just get looks and make everyone uncomfortable. NOT good for Karens either, if you cannot control the tone of your voice OR be respectful to the incredible staff and value this UWS jewel... then you are not welcome (not here nor anywhere else, just stay home). The establishment is amazing! We love you guys and those of us who are newcomers to what will become a cooler UWS will be your patrons!

Neighborhood bistro with good moules frites. Recently took my parents here and they loved it. Thanks to our waiter Maria B for taking care of us!

We really enjoyed our brunch! We were having an issue with the valet at our hotel and they were very kind in pushing our reservation back 30 minutes so we could still come. The food and specialty coffees were very good.

Some of the absolutely worst service I have experienced. Waiters never came to take our order, coffee was never delivered, noone cleaned away finished dishes after I asked 3 times, waiters didn't have a clue, and it was very noisy. Will not consider going back.

Great food and cocktails, and very attentive staff. A bit on the overpriced side, but the quality of the food is worth it.

I love eating at French Roast. The food is superb and the waitstaff is top shelf. You can't beat their Happy Hour. Great sliders. But the menu always diverts me. Not many places that serve a perfect Duck Confit.

We had an enjoyable brunch sitting outside, and then spent so much of the afternoon soaking up the Upper West Side ambience on a rainy afternoon that was stayed for drinks and cheese. Total was about 8 hours. My friend had the steak and eggs, which came with three eggs. The steak was kind of small, so I guess it equaled out in the end, and she was very happy with the dish. I ordered the baked eggs. They came baked in a pan with a tomato-based sauce, I was expecting something more like baked in muffin pans. It was good, but I think the steak-and-eggs was better. The bread that came with it -- ciabatta, I think -- was excellent. Because baked eggs take a bit of time to cook, we split the burrata tart as an appetizer, and we liked it a lot. The Haut Medoc at $22 for a small carafe was a hit, over the course of the day we ordered about five of them, so we should have gone with a bottle. Post-prandial cheese plate was a Grueyere, a brie, and a blue. Portions were modest, but they were what we needed, and the plate was beautifully presented. The baguette that came with them was just as great as the brunch bread. There is scaffolding up right now, so we were protected from the elements, and an efficient outdoor heater hanging over our table kept everything cozy. One thing to be aware of: the inside space was ridiculously noisy when we arrived at 1:15 p.m., which seems to be the rush hour for brunch there. The interior is all hard surfaces. Later during the brunch session and in the evening it was more sedate. As we were outside, we only noticed it when we got there and then when we went back in for the bathroom (several times, all that wine). Brunch came to $158 including tax but not tip; supplementary wine and cheese was $91.

Our dining experience was fantastic. From the moment we walked through the door we felt welcomed by the host. Our food was exceptional and the staff were all very professional and went above and beyond to make our dining experience unforgettable. The French Roast is a must for your next visit to NYC or if you are lucky enough to live in the city

Mussels were particularly sandy and pebbly. I've had mussels that were sandy, but this batch had what seemed like very small pebbles making it unpleasant when eating them

Had not been here in years and loved it. Food was delicious, the staff was attentive and did not rush two old friends catching up. It was a lively lunch crowd, but we could hear each other just fine!

My wife's onion soup was excellent. My scrambled egg, bacon, and Gruyère on a croissant less so. Mostly egg with the merest scrap of bacon and little cheese. I expected more of this restaurant where we've had many good meals.

Waited 30 minutes but all were very gracious and at end of meal offered a dessert on the house
