Brazilian/Portuguese fine dining experience. I m glad I chose this place. It was magical. It was stunning. Amazing team work from top to bottom. It was open kitchen and that was something I really enjoyed. It was always interesting to witness everyone worked together as a team. Anyway I have to point it out that our server really listened. Navy terms, we call it "attention to details." Special occasion details were not provided when the reservation was made. Yet he figured out the special occasion and improvised accordingly. A surprising treat was served at the end of the dinner. It was like something you would see from a TV show. For the food, the tasting menu was a symphony. A roller coaster ? I would say. The transitions of the flavor from mild to strong and strong to mild were just beautiful. Bravo to the chef. Thoughtfulness was what it was. In my opinion, Some courses were Japanese culture influenced but reconstruted with Brazilian flavored and modern techniques. They were just amazing. Art within art. The collaboration with Toma-L, a renowned painter from France, was a brilliant ideal. It took the dining experience to a whole new level. It is subjective, but I think I had the best dining experience ever. I really enjoyed it.

I went for my pregnant wife’s birthday and she could not eat half of the courses despite being reassured before I booked that they would make great substitutions to accommodate her pregnancy. The server asked us at the beginning if she wanted her courses seared or fully cooked and she responded fully cooked. The first bite had Ikura, when I asked if it was safe they responded that it was smoked ?. After the tuna we received was only seared, I asked the staff to fully cook her trout and ribeye but the trout came out medium and the ribeye cap medium rare (same as mine). There were no explanations of what steps were taken to make any of the dishes pregnancy safe other than in the cheese course. The octopus had chorizo and lard, which looked raw but would be safe if cooked… at that point we had lost trust in the staff so we didn’t even bother to ask or eat it.Everything was good on my end and the team did accommodate an allergy with some nice substitutions but unfortunately it was a terrible experience.Small changes would have made a big difference, like removing the ikura on the first bite or fully cooking the other dishes. Obviously we understand those changes to the dishes will make them taste not as good but they would still have been enjoyable (vs not being able to eat them at all).It would have also been helpful if the staff gave some explanations when bringing each dish.

Came for Valentine's Day celebration with my wife and it was our first time at this location and definitely won't be our last. Everyone made our experience so personable and the chefs all came to explain each dish and how to eat them. Definitely come if you want an Experience.

Frevo continues to be our favorite restaurant in NYC. The attention to detail in the food and service is next level. The entire staff can explain the dishes in detail and are extremely knowledgable in which beverage to pair with each dish or a set of courses. The team Bernardo and Franco put together makes you feel at home which makes the meal even more enjoyable.

Dinner at Frevo was an amazing treat. We visited the restaurant for a date night and were well received at entrance, with lovely art work, and loved seating at the counter seeing the chefs working to put together one dish more amazing than the next.Restaurant setting is comfortable, pleasant and high end, without being pretentious. We had a tough time choosing our favorite dish because almost every dish surprised and delivered an exciting start and finish with ingredients not tasting necessarily what you’d expect. For example, I hate lentil and Madai dish blew my mind leaving me wanting to repeat it.Kinmedai, Squash, Fluke, Tuna, Madai and Ribeye were all unforgettable experiences. We learned during dinner restaurant was serving 3 new dishes that night which is a concept we really like so new visits will still have something that we loved tasting but also present novelty and surprise. It was one of our favorite culinary experiences in our lives. We will definitely be back!

I still cannot the experience at this restaurant in a bad way. I chose this restaurant as an anniversary dinner. Tastes were good, I left the restaurant after checking out. I clearly remember that I received the phone call from restaurant on the way to go back at Washington square and they asked me to come back without any reasons. I thought they were busy but we might forgot some personal items there. Guess what they said to us. They said the leather receipt holder was missed at our counter. They asked to check our bags and coats. They were clearly doubting ourselves as thieves. We of course didn’t stole anything at this restaurant and the restaurant stuff later found the leather stuff inside of restaurant. I cried a lot since I was doubted as a thief. The cofounder just said if you come here next time, we will have special things to you. (I guess it’s probably discount or one more dish or so) But the point is who wants to come next time if I was treated like a bagger. This was the worst restaurant experience ever. I cannot believe this restaurant attitude toward to the customers.

Frevo has established itself as a very serious contemporary-cuisine restaurant, solidly anchored in French techniques, showcasing the love for the jus, the sauces and the complex and rich flavors that come with it. The Octopus & Chorizo Combination, the Cap of Ribeye and the Black Truffle Ravioli that we tasted during our last visit were outstanding and a fair representation of the ever-evolving efforts of Chef Franco and his incredible Team to surprise customers every time you seat on that impeccable serviced counter.

The food was overall good, but I’m writing this review a couple of weeks after and none of it sticks out anymore. Overall, it was a good experience but similar to other New York restaurants.

This restaurant's tasting menu features numerous courses, with some dishes offering creative flavors, making it ideal for those who enjoy exploring novel taste experiences. However, due to the abundance of courses, there's a sense of repetition in some flavors. Personally, I feel that reducing the number of courses, combining similar styles of dishes, or introducing dishes with completely different flavor profiles could enhance the overall experience. For instance, since many dishes on the current menu have generally mild flavors, consider incorporating one or two dishes with spicier or richer and more robust tastes to diversify the tasting menu and create contrasts between the dishes. Additionally, some dishes have longer intervals between them, contributing to a slower overall dining pace. Nevertheless, the restaurant aligns well with the positioning of a high-quality establishment and is certainly worth a try.

Visited before Frevo had Michelin star. Loved atmosphere but was not really impressed with food so didnt go back. If friend is visiting from away, would be cool place to take cuz idea of entering behind huge painting is fun. But felt price was not justifiable.

Celebrating my birthday at Frevo was one of the finest dining opportunities I have had. Watching the very skilled and passionate chef with his team in harmony preparing amazing dishes, was in deed a treat! The Michelin star was for sure given to one of the best in NYC! Delicious and creative dishes, ingredients at the utmost freshness were beyond expected. Ah, the counter sitting is very elegant and the stools amazingly comfortable. The dinnerware and glassware were really unique, it shows they were handpicked carefully! The art gallery is of course a plus to the overall experience. You can't miss this hidden gem in NYC!Parking: Many parking lots minutes away.
