FyahBun Creative is a restaurant that offers delicious and authentic Jamaican dishes, with a focus on both meat and vegan options. The jerk chicken, curried goat, lentil and curry, and beans and rice are highly praised for their wonderful flavors. Their plantains are a must-try, being described as incredibly tasty. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, and while it may be a bit challenging to find, it is worth the visit. The decor and atmosphere, once you step off busy Manhattan 1st Ave, take you to a Jamaican eatery oasis reminiscent of Caribbean vacation spots. The staff are friendly, and the food tastes very fresh, making it feel like a home-cooked meal. The limited opening schedule of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday is worth fitting into plans, especially since they do catering and delivery. A good selection of wines, international beers, and Jamaican sodas are available. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible with ground-floor access and has a paid parking garage nearby, though street parking may be limited. Take-out and a few tables are available for diners seeking a cozy, authentic experience.
The restaurant offers affordable Jamaican cuisine, and the staff is very welcoming. Beside the small dining area as you enter, there's a much larger dining space at the back giving you a rustic backyard vibe. The atmosphere is good for light conversation, nothing too personal unless the space is empty as it's a close seating arrangement. This location is about 3 minutes walk from the UN Headquarters, in case anyone visiting there wants a Caribbean-style lunch. The owner is super sweet and generous with ideas and extras, creating a small, quaint, and homely atmosphere that exudes kindness.
