Neighborhood staple. The food here is always consistent and delicious! Tons of variety for breakfast and lunch and feels like a piece of old New York which is hard to find these days! Love the cozy family feel this place has and so wonderful to see all the locals that walk in the doors to order. Definitely an upper west side favorite!

I love this place. The sandwiches and baked goods are great and are cheaper than other options in the area.

Giacomo Fine Foods is one of those rare neighborhood spots that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto a secret and then you realize the line out the door means everyone else already knows.
It’s got an old-school, old-world vibe somewhere between classic NYC deli and tiny European café. Like, if the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld actually liked people and made sandwiches instead. The place is small, but don’t let that fool you they’re serving fine food (frittatas, killer sandwiches, solid salads, and yes, even bacon-egg-cheese elevated).
I’ve been basically taste-testing my way through the entire menu since moving to the neighborhood and haven’t hit a single miss. Every sandwich? Fire. Even the coffee? Weirdly amazing. I don’t know what they’re putting in it, but I’m not asking questions.
The staff is clearly the family who owns it, and it shows in the best way. There’s warmth, humor, and just enough no-nonsense to keep the line moving. They know their neighbors and welcome the newbies (hi, me). Whether you’re a soccer mom, political elite, or just trying to survive your Tuesday they treat everyone with kindness and quick service.
That said bring cash. This is one of those Upper West Side joints where cash isn’t just accepted, it’s respected. Apple Pay might work, but if you want a smoother time and a knowing smile, cash is king.
It’s fancy and not at the same time. It’s real. And it’s damn delicious. One star off only because I wish payment was more seamless but I also kind of love that it isn’t. Worth every bite.

I am so disappointed!! I ordered a 7A, an Italian sandwich. It had 1 slice of meat of meat and cheese! What?! See photo. Do not recommend.

Went here three times in one day for a single iced coffee - each time had a fly in it.
First coffee, had half and saw a dark blob floating in it. A fly.
No problem, this happens.
Walk back and ask for another.
Second coffee, also very clearly has a fly in it after having just a couple of sips in the store.
Figured it can’t possibly happen again, but it does on coffee #3 that was “closely inspected” by the manager.
Three times! Must be absolutely disgusting in there.

Giacomo is a local institution! Jose has been part of our upper west side experience for 15 years since we first met in little league baseball. He makes amazing sandwich platters for entire sports teams and has lots of sweet treats. I highly recommend that you give it a try and support a local UWS business!
