Hmm... I love a good Korean HOF.
The concept here is good. It just needs little tweaks here and there to make it great.
The food was good, the atmosphere ok, drinks were good and the owner was very nice. I'll be back to try other things to see improvement.
Really enjoyed my meal at GHOF last night and am looking forward to coming back. We made it in time for happy hour at 5:45 and there was no wait for a table for 2. Started with the Caesar salad and kimchi pancake. The pancake was very good, a bit thicker and substantial than most. The salad was above
Average with a lot of cheese (just how I like it) we order 2 kinds of chicken, the Gochujang and uncle Sam’s. Both are good but the uncle Sam’s was the better of the two. It’s like a spicier general tso’s chicken sauce and it’s perfect. It’s a must order. Also had the carbonara rice cake dish which was ok, so I’d recommend trying one of the other starches if it’s your first time. There’s other dishes I’m looking forward to trying, so I’m definitely coming back. It’s a great spot to pop into if you’re in the roc center area and want a casual, comfort-food style of meal. My friends work nearby so I’ll be back soon, and I can’t wait!
Went here with about 20 coworkers for a happy hour. The drink menu is great...almost too great. 12 of us ended up staying for dinner. The food was incredible. Super unique but something you can't find elsewhere. Super trendy spot in Midtown - big win!
The perfect Rockefeller reprieve. Food is Chef Sam’s signature elevated yet comfort style (get the poached kkangpungi lobster, rose rigatoni). Questlove stamped it. SNL stamped it. Midtown has a new Korean American tavern
Unfortunately, this is not authentic Korean food and I left pretty disappointed.
We started with the cumin and green Sichuan wings, which somehow it’s more tangy than spicy in a strange, off putting way. The soy honey garlic wings were slightly better flavor wise, but the wings themselves were dry and not juicy at all.
The spicy ddukbokki carbonara was neither spicy and undercooked. It lacked that soft, chewy texture you’d expect. The kimchi pancake was another miss… thin, burnt, and far from your traditional/original kimchi pancake.
We were allowed to order from the Kimchi NY menu (the restaurant downstairs), we tried the kimchi jjigae. It was bland, watery, and completely lacked spice. Flavorless! We also ordered the NY strip steak, but were not asked how we wanted it cooked. It came out medium and chewy — not great.
I tried to be spontaneous and ordered the NYK Martini… big mistake! It tasted like watered down kimchi juice. Even the server admitted, “Yeah, we get that a lot” and kindly replaced it. That drink honestly needs to be taken off the menu. Ban chan was served mid meal and that wasn’t even great! How do you mess up simple side dishes?!?!
Service was friendly, which I appreciated, but overall the experience didn’t justify the $360 bill for four people. I wouldn’t come back or recommend it.
Absolutely obsessed with Golden HOF — this place is a total standout and easily one of the best meals I’ve had in NYC in a long time. From the moment we walked in, everything felt just right. The energy was warm and vibrant, the service was beyond attentive (huge shoutout to the staff — friendly, knowledgeable, and totally on point), and the food… don’t even get me started.
We kicked things off with the Korean Fried Chicken Wings, which were perfectly crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside, and seasoned to absolute perfection. They strike that perfect balance of savory and slightly sweet, and they honestly set the tone for the rest of the meal.
Next up were the Buldak Dumplings — tender chicken and pork dumplings swimming in a fiery, deeply flavorful hot sauce, topped with a generous dusting of truffle pecorino. These were insane. Rich, spicy, elegant, and completely addictive. I would come back for these alone.
The Jjajang Disco Fries were the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite to say, “Okay, this is ridiculous.” Crispy fries drenched in black bean pork gravy, melted mozzarella, and pickled jalapeños — it’s indulgent, comforting, and totally unique. A Korean take on loaded fries, but elevated and reimagined in the best way.
We also had the Rosé Rigatoni, which I didn’t expect to love as much as I did. The housemade rigatoni was tender and toothsome, the sauce was velvety and rich — a creamy tomato-gochujang garlic blend with the savory lift of aonori (seaweed flakes). It was so comforting but still had complexity and depth.
Every dish felt considered and intentional, both in flavor and presentation. The drinks were also on point — balanced, creative, and really well matched to the food. And the service? Attentive without hovering, super friendly, and made the whole experience feel special from start to finish.
Golden HOF is doing something special. It’s a perfect mash-up of Korean flavors, NYC comfort food, and thoughtful creativity. I already can’t wait to go back — this place deserves all the hype. 11/10 recommend!
There were audible responses to every bite had.
I may have cursed out loud…a lot while eating here. (Apologies to any families around me at that time)
Items ordered:
NYK Martini: it was perfection. Savory, gets your mouth watering. A perfect twist on a classic.
Maxim Time: amazing. More on the tart side than other espresso martinis, in a good way. So if you prefer sweet, maybe not for you. But definitely for the tart lovers.
Cumin and Green Szechuan wings: the flavor coats your mouth and stays with you in the best way possible. The perfect description on the menu “numbing and tang”. A perfect crunch and yet juicy.
Seafood tower: just…everything. Not your every day seafood tower. You can taste the dashi seasoning in the shrimp, I usually prefer the mignonette sauce on oysters but the seasoning in the chojang was out of this world.
The lobster needs…nay…deserves its own post. The layers of flavor and spices on the lobster was nothing like I had tasted. I do not even know how to describe it to you. Just…just order it and experience nirvana for yourself.
The seafood tower and the wings were so good we did not stop to take a picture of them. But the pic posted is the NYK Martini.
Good vibes, good food, enjoyed the drinks (especially the naengmyun cocktail). Wings & pasta are a combo I didn't know I needed.
