Came here for date night with my husband as we knew their restaurant was closing for good :( we tried as many of their menu items as possible by starting off with few cocktails such as the Gongo Spritz, Dirty Gongroni (amazing presentation of smokiness btw) and Shiso Julep. Drinks all tasted amazing! We also ordered a bunch of food such as their marinated oysters and sea scallops (marinated and infused in soybean oil, soy sauce, garlic, bay leaf and red pepper), Duck Kobu Shime and Goma Hama Chazuke. All tasted so good and packed with flavor!Overall, staff and service was very pleasing and I'm definitely going to miss coming here. Hope to find another restaurant exactly like Gongo in the near future!

Cool atmosphere, excellent service, and creative delicious cocktails. Kazuya is the best!

Great speakeasy. Friends and I enjoyed ordering one of every sake flight option. Solid atmosphere and vibe. Very classy and brings out your inner elegance. Shout-out to the staff. We were being slightly rowdy and they handled us very well. Thank you for letting us have a great time here.

Speakeasy type of bar downstairs inside Craft Mine Sushi. Excellent cocktails and awesome ambiance. Very light staff so service was a bit slow. Nevertheless, it won't stop me from coming back!

Delicious drinks and perfect vibes! My partner and I had some drinks here with friends last night and we had a great time. I ordered a gin cucumber cocktail and she ordered a mezcal Negroni. Both were amazing. Our friends tried the “bleu cheese” drink and it was like nothing we ever had before but so good and refreshing! Definitely coming back on our next date night out.

Amazing experience! All the food and drinks my friends and I ordered were well-crafted, elevated, and so tasty! Atmosphere is also perfect for post-work or late night gatherings. And the prices were super fair especially given the quality. At the end, the bartender gave us dessert drinks on the house, and knew to make mine non-alcoholic without asking me (because I had ordered a mocktail before). It was suchhh a nice touch! Will definitely be back!

Nice spot with great atmosphere. Got there at 10pm on a Friday and it was chill. Started to get pretty lively around 11 or so

Tucked away behind another restaurant in St. Marks, Gongo offers Asian liquor cocktails at an affordable price and minimalist aesthetic. Service was a bit slow and overwhelmed when we were there, but servers made up for it by being nice and accommodating. My favorite drink was the gingersnap.

Delicious drinks in a cozy space, hidden in the back of a sushi restaurant! Shiso Julep was great. Bleu Cheese drink was very savory yet well balanced and indeed tasted like blue cheese. Will be back for sure.

Hidden gem! More quiet than other speakeasy's with more space and a slower vibe which is great for relaxing and conversations.

Sleek and chic, elevated and intimate—Gongo serves sophistication in the form of cocktails and sake, and its ambiance. It’s possible to miss this spot if you don’t know what you’re looking for, but it’s definitely worth finding. Located downstairs of MINE Craft Sushi, Gongo is dimly lit and spacious with bar and table seating available. Unlike other speakeasies in New York City, you can actually have a conversation here and enjoy the vibe. The cocktails (on and off-the-menu) and sake selection are amazing. The bartender and other staff members are friendly and knowledgeable in their craft, providing recommendations based on your palate and preferences. The menu offers a nice selection of small plate options. I’d highly recommend the oysters, Branzino Ichiya Boshi, and the Ushi-Wasa. The oysters were marinated and served in a jar—I wasn’t sure what to expect but certainly wasn’t disappointed. The flavor was familiar and satisfying, and paired well with my off-the-menu cocktail. The Branzino Ichiya Boshi was crispy and delicious as well, but the Ushi-Wasa was by far my favorite. The meat was so well-marbled; rich and tender.Whether it’s the atmosphere and aesthetic, or the drinks and food, this speakeasy will easily have you going back again.

I love Gongo. As much as I want to keep this place to myself, the world needs to know about it, so we can all share in the glory that is Gongo. The drinks are fantastic: carefully considered craft cocktails (at reasonable prices—which is UNHEARD OF in Manhattan), a huge sake and shochu collection, great whiskeys. And dang, the food! I know that this is a bar/speakeasy first, but I can't think of a drinking establishment with better bites. Super fresh sashimi! Delicious rolled omelet! Smoked quail eggs! Crispy branzino! Roasted duck! And don't get me started on the chazuke and the mackerel sushi.Five stars, favorite spot in the city.

Gongo is a very well rounded bar where you aren't compromising on the food or the cocktails, so you can go for a complete dinner and/or drinks.I don't think the food menu is online yet, but it has a great selection of substantial food in addition to food that's good for snacking. If you're a picky eater or you like more fancy food, you can find something that works for you. I ordered the asparagus, fries, and fish. Their food preparation and flavor/texture balance was on par with some of the Michelin star restaurants I've been to recently. The prices are ridiculously good as well, perhaps because they opened recently. The asparagus was cooked perfectly and paired with two smoked salts that were flavorful while not being overpowering. I expected the fries to be a usual filler-type dish but it was the most surprising. The fries were really light and seasoned just right, with crumbled feta (?) and bacon to make it more dynamic and keep the dish interesting throughout. The (pan-fried? grilled?) fish was great too, but I had a small appetite and was probably drunk by that point.Cocktails/Drinks: 5/5I tried the new Shiso Julep and Gingersnap cocktails, Katori 90 Nama Genshu Sake (a more traditional and complex sake), tea, and some other things. The Shiso Julep was particularly impressive and well-balanced. It's excellent if you like full-bodied cocktails. It seems like they go for innovation but manage to achieve execution and create cohesive, well-balanced cocktails. The bartender is friendly and knowledgeable, so you can learn about different alcohol or cocktails and find something that matches your preferences.Atmosphere: 5/5; Service: 5/5.It's pretty laidback, perfect for if you're catching up with a friend, have some occasion where you need to ensure that the food and drinks won't be a disappointment, or if you're bored and just want to eat good food and cocktails in a relaxed manner. There's plenty of bar and table seating.
