They charge extra for the lettuce and tomato that comes with burger. The meat patty of the burger tastes like nothing. It tastes i am eating just the meat without any salt or papper. And portions are smaller than other Deli’s. Costumer service is 3 out of 5.

Favorite deli on the UES side. Grace’s was previously Alex’s deli. Same owners, same team, same great food and service. I order an off menu breakfast burrito and they make it perfectly. Love it here.Dietary restrictions: I’m a vegetarian.

Been a loyal customer since Alex opened this place 10 years ago. The food was really good prior pandemic. (Sold off to a foreign company ) Staff was super friendly.. but now it seem any thing good isn't there . The bottle coke smells of Mildew and mold. The guy serving the food isn't friendly . Food isn't as fresh as it once was . The place is still lunch solid spot but new staff and the counter guy who wears the Rolex are not nice . Seem like a laundering company now . No price menu on wall , looks half closed ... Something shady , maybe it's a cover for all the stuff happening in the basement club next door.

It's a neighborhood Deli, almost. Food exactly as you expect, with top-notch service and comfortable-enough seating.Vegetarian options: Plenty of choices here for vegetarians like me.

Your neighborhood deli -First, this place remains open. I was here a few days ago for a quick bite. Sandwiches, hot foods, and deli are also all basic with decent seating. I ordered a hot sandwich, see photo, and a drink. They are a got eatery if you need a quick bite. Service is fast and friendly

Best Deli in the neighborhood. Fresh meats and produce... care packed into every meal prepared... customer service is wonderful - it's easy to tell why this place stands out above the rest. If you're craving a cutlet sandwich, the "chicken supreme" is worth the trip to NYC for.

Alex Cafe was on my radar for years. I kept walking by for some reason. Today I was heading home hungry and when I saw the sign it was the right place at the right time. I took my outside photos and headed inside. I immediately saw the clean tables that were plentiful! I knew I'd be allowed to sit to eat as there was a customer seated there. When I headed to the counter I was greeted by a friendly employee. I told him I've walked by for years. He said they have been there ten years! I'm so sorry I missed this friendly old school cafe. I proceeded to the back trying to decide what I wanted from their extensive menu! Finally in the rear I spotted the bialys. The cook asked if he could help. I said I wanted a bialy, not toasted, fried egg well done with salt and pepper, bacon, and American Cheese. Later I saw on the menu they don't serve pork here. I'm sure I had Turkey Bacon. My sandwich was delicious but definitely needed more cheese. I should always ask for xtra cheese. I was asked three times if I was staying. I kept saying yes. I offered to show vaccination status but they said it was fine I could sit. Like I said the tables very clean and my table was comfortably secluded with the place practically empty. My bialy B.E.C. was well worth the $7. I left feeling full and happy. I will be sure to ask for double (or triple) cheese next time. I don't care what it costs! I'm recommending you give this place a visit. You can see by my photos the muffins are fresh baked on premises and they're huge. The cheesecake and other cakes were very tempting. I didn't want to indulge today! I'll definitely be back!
