The seafood was good, the service excellent and overall we had a pleasant evening at the Oyster Bar. The menu is extensive so be careful not to over order. I had the fried oysters and a large serving of coleslaw which were delicious and my husband had the soft shell crabs which he reported were good but not exceptional. Whether one is a tourist or local New Yorker there's a reason the Oyster Bar is still in business! Meal after meal the fresh delicious oysters never disappoint and the fish is always truly fresh. While the price point may be a little higher the portions of the fish entrees with freshly sautéed veggies make it all worthwhile. And there is no skimping on the contents of the cocktails either. I've only sat at the counter for New England clam chowder (many times) before finally eating in the dining room and it was fabulous. A divine feast shared with my daughter of oysters Rockefeller, popcorn shrimp, NE clam chowder and soft shell crabs. Attentive service, so nice! Love to be in such a vital nyc landmark restaurant having a fabulous meal!
