Food is incredible. Their shrimp wonton soup is some of the best I’ve ever had. I also particularly like their ginger scallion chicken but it’s hit or miss whether it’ll be heated up. soft shell crab is ~$28 and comes w two large pieces good for sharing; worth it imo.I enjoy their baby pig and other BBQ dishes but they usually come cold even when I dine in and half the order of roast duck (I get 1/2-1lb) is bones.Staff is very generous with their ginger scallion sauce but even though I order $50-100+ almost every time, I’m not given the complimentary oranges other tables of all sizes who often ordered less than me are given. They also auto add 20% or so gratuity for my table of two, which idm bc I was gonna tip that much anyway, but I wonder if they do that to other tables. given their business and small number of wait staff, you’re almost entirely ignored the whole time and can be hard to get anyones attn.Vegetarian options: They have some sautéed veg dishes

Our family visited this place often growing up as we are a cantonese family that absolutely loves authentic cantonese food, but this time, my experience was definitely a sign to not come back. The food quality had declined so much, the service was horrendous, and there was some unnecessary confusion over pricing. We ordered half a soy sauce chicken to stay in and eat (which costs $17.50) and requested it be put in a to-go box so it’ll be easier for us to pack up when we can’t finish it, but then the manager (short hair) came over and told us to stop eating otherwise he'll charge us $20 instead. We felt this was an unfair change of price because the actual price was listed clearly on the menu. For those unfamiliar with ordering BBQ items. Stay in and eat pricing is different from take out pricing. In this case, we clearly stated that we are paying for the stay in and eat pricing. The waiter also had clearly explained that take out is $15 and staying in to eat is $17.50. So where did the price of $20 come from??? You cannot change the price of the dish after we start eating it. We were left very disappointed and annoyed with how the staff handled the situation. Understandably, misunderstandings can happen and I understand if you did not want your other customers thinking we were getting a discount of a sort. But the condescending tones and rudeness was unwarranted. Especially with the inconsistency in pricing. Pictures taken to show the price listed on the menu as well as our bill that we paid. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to take a picture of the pricing on the wall for the BBQ item but it listed that take out was $15. When you visit, please double check the cost of the dishes you are ordering.

This is one of the few places that serves **real** cantonese food attracting **both** Asian and non-Asian guests. Their food is just so good that they don’t need to change to cater to any group of people. It’s busy and always full inside, but the wait isn’t long because the staff works hard to deliver food very quickly. Try the roast duck and pork, and if you like chow fun they have what you’ll love. Did I mention everything is so affordable too?

Used to be good. Now not so much. The preparation of the salt baked fish and flowering chives was unfortunately not that great. Oily and lacking flavor.

Great N.Y. Noodletown, is a definitely great Chinatown Cantonese spot... plus for more than noodles! For almost 20 years, always enjoyed my meals at this barebones spot. Keep in mind that this not fancy restaurant is also not big, so you may have to wait a little for a table - and there's not much room to wait. First come and first served, it's also harder to accommodate you if you have a large party, especially since the couple round bigger tables will be shared to maximize turnover. That being said, the service is quick, food fantastic, and prices reasonable! (Note - It's cash only and prices include tax.) This time, with the quintessential complementary hot tea pot ready to get us started, our dishes at Great N.Y. Noodletown started coming out around 5 minutes after we placed our order. Everything was delicious and flavorful: Sautéed string beans, Roast pork, Roast duck and noodles in soup, Eggplant with chicken on rice, as well as Poached chicken breast with ginger scallion sauce. Don't be fooled by the nominal descriptions on the menu. Each well crafted dish had their own robust flavor... utilizing garlic for those tender string beans, fresh sliced ginger for the eggplant with chicken, and some strong (thinly sliced yet not fiery) pepper for the memorable, extremely tender poached chicken!(While our favorite this time was the poached chicken, but everything we had was absolutely yummy! Looking forward to my next Great N.Y. Noodletown meal!

My boyfriend's family was in town and we wanted to eat some good Chinese food! We came here on a Friday night and there was no lines! We were seated right away. It definitely helps that his mom spoke Chinese, which helped with the ordering and clarifying certain items on the menu. Our favorites were the casserole /clay pot dishes. They come out piping hot and are full of delicious flavor. We ordered: Eggplant and diced chicken w salted fish casseroles -5/5 a bit smelly because of the salted fish but there's a ton of umami in this dish. Great to eat on a bed of rice! Braised Boneless sea-bass casseroles - 5/5 The sea-bass is delish! Shrimp wonton noodle soup 3/5 - not much flavor but the shrimp wontons are yummy. Barbecued Items -Roast duck (quarter) Barbecued Items on Rice -Roast Pig (crispy skin) - 3/5 -Roast Pork (char siu/bbq style) - 4/5 There was actually char siu/roast pork in the Braised boneless sea-bass casserole. I enjoyed it so much better when it was hot (in the clay pot dish). The BBQ'd items on rice were good and definitely flavored well, but I'll be honest and say the rice didn't taste very fresh, and the BBQ items on rice don't come out hot, including the duck - they all come out room temperature, so for that I give 4/5 overall.

I have gotten the BBQ items for take out many times. I had friends visiting and decided to do the sit down experience. Usually it is so busy we can barely get in the door, but we went early in the morning and got a table in the back. The waitstaff is the nicest that they can be for a Chinatown restaurant. They helped me get a high chair and napkins without being asked, so that is pretty nice for Chinatown. The plate of roast pork was delectable. The plate for roast duck was a miss, the duck didn't have much meat on it. Roast pork lo mein was flavorful and plentiful. Expect it to be a little oily. The yu choy was standard. I usually get choy to complement the meal. They typically boil and serve with a side of oyster sauce. We also got the shrimp wonton noodle soup with hor fun (wide rice noodles). You can ask for different noodles. The wontons were good. We were rushed out at the tail end of the meal, but that was expected. Overall, I think best to just get the BBQ items and noodles take out.

This place is the heart and soul of Chinatown. Quality and efficiency is the name of their game.

Don't believe the hype guys...unless you want food poisoning! I went with high hopes and had the beef and crabs last night...but have been sick as a dog today. Looked into the restaurant's history and it's previously been closed for food violations, including rats and roaches. Plus the beef and crabs came out to 52 bucks and change (incl service fee) not that cheap for a meal for one imo is Pretty disappointing overall!

I've been to this place a few times because the food is good, the place is clean and the prices are great. Their duck is great, and so is their crispy pork. This time, I just got the shrimp wonton soup. It's a bit briny from the shrimp, but throw in some hot chili oil and it's homerun. Don't bother trying to drive there. This is the worst neighborhood in NYC to drive to. Just take the 6 train to Canal Street and walk about 6 blocks

Ahh yes, the Great NY Noodle Town. I've been coming here since I was a young teen. Almost 30 years ago. The food here never disappoints. From their famous wonton noodle soups to their delicious and tender roast pork, crispy roast duck, family style dishes such as their pan fried noodles, mayonnaise jumbo shrimp the list goes on and on. If you're dining solo, just go with a bowl of their shrimp wonton noodles for 8 bucks. Generous portion and delicious broth. Hot oolong tea here is always complimentary, and the waiters are pretty friendly. If you come with a larger sized group, be prepared to wait, especially on the weekends as it gets super crowded from the tourists. A+
