I recently connected with a relative that I kind of knew about but it took a while to really connect with and what else do two Italians do when they get together, but go eat. These’s no better place to eat Italian food in NYC than at Grifones. I was introduced to Mario at Grifone over 20 years ago. I ordered a secret special called Veal Lucatorto. A chop breaded, fried and so tender it practically fell off the bone. The dish, named after a regular at the place, Joe Luca has been my favorite since the first time I ate there 23 years ago in 1997.

My favorite restaurant in New York and my weekly must do. I am always greeted by the owner and treated with respect and graciousness. The waiters treat me with one on one service. The food is delicious and you can adjust the menu to add other ingredients. At some point Mario the owner will sit with you and ask how your meal is? I always feel at home in this old nyc style restaurant of sophistication . Thank goodness this restaurant exists and serves the best Italian restaurant in nyc. Katarina

This was our first visit to the Grifone and what a lovely surprise. The restaurant is wonderfully quiet so you can have a pleasant conversation during dinner. The service was charming and fun. The food was extremely good. We will make a point of returning very soon.
