I’m writing to formally express my concern regarding the treatment of minorities at this location. It appears that children of color are not given the same guidance, patience, or positive experiences as others, and there seems to be a lack of clear communication and support when they attempt to participate.
Additionally, I found it both inappropriate and dismissive when a manager offered me s’mores in response to the poor service I received. This gesture did not acknowledge or address the seriousness of my concerns and only added to my disappointment.
I hope this matter is taken seriously and addressed appropriately to ensure a more inclusive, respectful, and equitable environment for all guests.

Although I normally have a good experience at Gyu-Kakus across NY, today's visit at this location was really disappointing. As posted on their own website, lunch hours are from 11am to 3pm, with 3pm clearly specified as the time of "Last Seating" (screenshot attached). I arrived for a lunch reservation at 2:50pm and was told I had to wait until my complete party arrived (which is totally fine). The last person in my party showed up at 2:59pm, but the hostess was wrapping up a phone call and didn't end up checking us in until 3:00pm. When we asked if we can order from the lunch menu, she bluntly said, "No. It's after 3PM." We pointed out that it was actually still 3:00pm (i.e., we weren't even asking for her to make an exception), but she continued to refuse to honor their posted policy. Avoid this location.
I was in the middle of eating my food when the check is brought over and asked for me to pay it . Once I gave the cash to the MANAGER she brings the check and cash back to my table and asks me why I didn’t tip . Mind you I was still eating my food (I was planning on tipping) and she very rudely ask why I didn’t include tip and it’s mandatory to do so as everyone else does it . I told her I was still eating my food and I thought it was very inappropriate & unprofessional to say those things to my bf and I . I felt very offended and discriminated against . I come to Gyu a lot & I’m very upset to say I won’t be returning !

Exceptional food, not so great staff, very crowded atmosphere. The food was excellent, the meat was extremely good, and cooking it yourself allowed for it to be exactly to be like everyone's liking.
The service was pretty bad, though, it was hard to flag down a server and they weren't very helpful in deciding what to get, especially with such an in-depth menu. I find that these kinds of restaurants require an experienced staff that can give good recommendations as customers often don't know what to get.
The atmosphere was also very crowded and loud, which can definitely be overlooked... if you book. reservation for a booth (what we got the first time we went there) the sound is pretty muffled and seats a large number of people. The decorations/layout wasn't anything worthy of noting either.
