Came to a late lunch with some friends and we were having a great time. Atmosphere great, service could have been better as we had 3 waiter changes. But point being while eating from an order of rice I noticed a roach mixed in. Unfortunately this made me stop eating and I brought it to the staffs attention quietly. They told me they would remove the charge for the two rices we ordered but ended up taking one off. Please be careful while eating here after all it is NYC. I feel like after that they could’ve handle this better, instead I ended up paying a full bill minus the rice with the roach which seems fair but unfortunately I will never return or recommend this restaurant due to the lack of cleanliness and customer service.

There was a ROACH at the table. When I told the server, he rolled his eyes and grabbed it with the napkin. No apology, no compensation- nothing.
WE FOUND A ROACH ON OUR TABLE. WHEN WE TOLD THE SERVER HE WAS SO RUDE ABOUT IT, AS IF IT WAS OUR FAULT.

We had the Yakiniku party. We had one extra person who also didn't eat meat so we also added additional vegetables and an extra smore for them. The appetizers were quite good. Salads were very good well portioned as were the garlic noodles. The meats were very fresh. Our favorites were any meat that were marinated as they were the most tasty. They do provide dipping sauce. We also ordered some pork belly which was good and lots of fun to cook. Fun place to go for bbq without having to clean your own grill.
Interesting - this Japanese BBQ tends to hire quite a few Thai people as the staff. I was having dinner with two friends and it was decent but not great. Service was slow and the portions were ok but the meat itself nothing special. Towards the end of the dinner one of my guests asked for a napkin and if they could wipe the table where a spill happened. Turns out that they started talking in a very derogatory way about the 'fat white man at the table who cries and companies like a woman.' Luckily enough, my other friend grew up in Thailand and translated for us. The staff was shocked. It's Manhattan. Don't expect that you can talk in another language about your customers. I really can't overstate how surprised they were at being caught and it really only made things worse. If getting an extra napkin and cleaning up a spill of sauce from when when of your bus boys dropped off a plate of meat on the table is that upsetting then maybe you need to re-evaluate your job choice. Never again.
