Went on a Wednesday night at around 7 PM and was super busy! Filled with mainly younger people and the vibe was extremely nice. We got the beef tartare, chapaguri fried rice, soy-glazed bossam, and the frozen makgeolli for dessert! Only got a picture of the beef tartare and chapaguri :(, but everything was good nonetheless.
We did find the garlic bossam a bit too oily for our liking but it was good and finished all our plates. The service was great - I noticed that there were probably a lot of reservations as servers were quick to clear off empty tables and set them up for the next guests. Would highly recommend and I would go back to try some other dishes!

This place is a little pricy compared to other korean restaurants but really worth it; try to make a reservation if you can!

Absolutely fantastic dining experience!?❤️❤️The octopus tteokbokki was full of flavor and the perfect level of spice – a must-try for spice lovers. The truffle potato pancake was crispy, rich, and simply delicious. The hojok galbi was tender and flavorful, though it’s a bit heavy after a few slices, making it perfect for sharing. The beef tartare was fresh and expertly seasoned, a delightful addition to the meal. The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I can’t wait to return and try more of the amazing dishes on the menu!?????

This place is one of my new favorite restaurants in NYC. I ordered the Octopus Ttheokbokki and the Branzino. Both were to die for and amazing portions. Honestly, I would have been fine with the theokbokki by itself, I got so full. Additionally, my friend and I tried the kimchi and sweet potatoes, and oh my god, so good!
On top of this, the service was super fast, friendly, and gave us free sparkling wine for an anniversary the restaurant was celebrating. I can't wait to go back and bring other friends!

Ate here once, food was good, service was mediocre. Returned again tonight, the mediocre service started again with the hostess so I decided to walk out.

The octopus tteokbokki and truffle potato pancake are must gets. The food leans on the spicier side, but definitely the perfect amount of kick for those that enjoy spicy food. Though the hojok galbi was amazing as well, it can be a bit too heavy after 3-4 slices.

Two words. Frozen Makkeoli. Absolute must try if you’re a fan of Makkeoli. The food was good but not mind blowing. To be fair I only tried three dishes and my favorite was the octopus tteokboki. The galbi was OK, not worth $54 imo. The desserts were better than the food. Mild flavors and not overly sweet. I would go back for the desserts. The ambience is really nice too.

The chili garnish on the signature galbi at Hojokban was so unbelievably, incredibly spicy—it was a real challenge! At first, I didn’t realize it was the chili itself and thought maybe they served the wrong, extra-spicy galbi by mistake. If they could just switch that out, it would be absolutely perfect! Overall, the service was great, and everything was delicious!

We ordered the tartare, pork jowl, galbi, perilla oil noodles and frozen makgeolli and the portions were just right for a table of 4. Everything was incredible ?Our favourite was the pork jowl! Even the kimchi was great :)

Hojokban is quite famous in Korea, so I had high expectations, but food was okay. Their dishes are like tapas style - portion is not big, so three of us ordered four dishes and two desserts. Truffle potato pancake was good, and cold buckwheat noodle was refreshing. Hojok galbi was too salty, so we had to order a bowl of rice - wish it came with rice, or less salty. We liked their sweet potato side dish tho.

Hojokban is a hidden gem! The staff is incredibly attentive and ensures every detail is taken care of, making the dining experience feel personal and enjoyable. The food is simply amazing—full of vibrant flavors and fresh ingredients. I’m so glad they opened up and introduced their unique bento-style bansang for lunch. It’s the perfect combination of traditional Korean flavors with a modern twist. A must-visit for anyone looking for something new and exciting!
