Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart K-Town

Gives a bad name to Hokkaido cheese tarts. Rude and unwelcoming service (went in on a Saturday night), cold tarts (these are by default heated in Japan), and flies were in the cheese tart display. So sad because I love Hokkaido cheese tarts

Thought I’d stop by after dinner. I was greeted by a super friendly and patient guy and selected an Ube croissant and original/classic tart. The Ube croissant had a very slippery and light filling and a sweet and savory chocolate shell. The outside is flaky and fragrant, but the inside gives rather strong notes of yeast. The tart, however, is perfection. The shell is like a more crumbly version of a vanilla shortbread cookie, and the custard is like a cross between a non-bake cheesecake and pudding. Next time, I will still get the croissant, but I might just eat the top part.

I had the ube, matcha and black sesame seed cheese tart. All were pretty mid and tasted about the same. The staff was not attentive to me and they weren’t welcoming. Save your money on this spot. Not worth it.

TERRIBLE The matcha cream tasted like they forgot to add any sugar just bitter and bland. Honestly, it might be the worst pastry I’ve ever had.

Another kryptonite magnet destination! Irresistibly cute and delicious tarts. They also make a great surprise in their lovely boxes. I've gotten them so many times for the ladies who work at Ebenezer eyelash extensions. (Only use Ebenezer for eyelashes. They are the best of the best...)
Don't get the strawberry or mango at Hokkaido because they're my favorites. Recently, they were almost sold out and I kinda blame you. Twin me, but not here, people.

The cheese tarts are interesting--they offer a unique twist compared to traditional Portuguese or Chinese egg tarts. I appreciate that they come in various flavors, including seasonal options, which keeps things fresh and exciting. The filling is creamy and balanced, not too sweet. However, I found the crust a bit too hard, more like a graham cracker; I'd have preferred a flakier crust for a lighter texture. Ultimately, the cheese tarts aren't my favorite, but I would definitely recommend trying the cream puffs!

Sooo good that it makes me wanna cry from happiness!! I bought the original cheese tart, mango and chocolate and finished all three in one go, it’s that good, it’s not too sweet but with unique flavors that make you crave for more
