The food is alright but they charged 25% tips for party of 5 or more, sounds pretty ridiculous to me.

Not worth the hype. Service is impossibly slow, our server came more than 15 min after we sat down (and after helping other tables that were seated after us). The light is so dark that you can barely see what’s happening in front of you. The bathroom was littered with paper…everywhere! Good grief. The saving grace is the food, which tasted decent and came in generous portions (for nyc). However—not good enough to be memorable.

Food and ambiance were excellent! Pork katsu was delicious. Service was extremely slow though for a Thursday night and it took us an hour to get food. We had to flag waiters to get our waters refilled.

Good food. Kinda dark, so a little difficult to see others in my group, but aside from that it was a cool ambience

Ichibantei is the experience of wonderfully savory fried chicken/pork that's not too greasy. Surprisingly generously portioned, I struggled to finish a delicious meal, that's how big they were. Given the food quality, the food was worth the money, excited to come back and try something new. I had the oyakodon which had excellent dashi and paired with just a little rice. All the other katsus and kara ages were just as yummy and we all left happier than when we came

Service was a bit of a nightmare. I actually had to get up three times to find a waiter after a very long wait and after trying to get their attention numerous times. The waiters had this way of coming halfway toward your table, where you thought you could get their attention, and then quickly making a 180 degree turn and walking back the other way. They also brought us soup without spoons and directed us to a QCR code menu without providing a wifi password There were also no bars or one bar of phone reception the whole time. It's also quite dark and very loud. I don't really remember the food being good or bad as the other issues were too distracting.

Amazing stumble upon date night. Open until 3 am. The food was AMAZING. Apparently all the staff in the kitchen is from Japan and it shows. Top recs: geso calamari, pork katsu curry, oyakudon. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable. Late night go to spot. They even have authentic lemon sours! Music is dope and good vibes abound.

The way they’re still careful with pouring my water at 230AM is insane. Food comes packaged well, this is THE afters spot.

We’re tourists from Canada. We happened to choose this new restaurant because we were caught in a heavy rain.Unexpectedly, the food here was very authentic, and we found out that the chef is from Japan. The service was also attentive, especially from a waiter named Ryan. He even gave us two umbrellas as gifts finally when we left, which was really touching.

Extremely well crafted Japanese cuisine. The pork katsu curry I had was cooked to crispy perfection and the best thing to cure a rainy day.Service was super friendly and knowledgeable, and giving a free mini appetizer that changes every day is an extreme plus! Also cocktails and sake are reasonably priced ending up in one of the most well rounded dining experiences you could haveMy only complaint was that the music is a little loud, but that's by design since it's settled in an old club I'd warrant.

Hidden gem in EV! I'm almost hesitant to write a great review because I don't want this place to be too popular that I can't get seatings. Lol I actually followed them from the original location on 13th Street because their food is just SO good! I love all of "teishoku" style food. It reminds my of mom's cooking at home. Very reasonable price for Manhattan too. The ambiance is definitely "club-like" hip joint. The waiters are very attentive.
