Il Melograno is our favorite restaurant in this part of the city. We had an early reservation after a matinee show and before we took the train ride home, so there were not many people yet and it was quiet. We were able to choose a cozy table by the brick wall with candle . Our server was friendly and food and drinks arrived in a timely manner. The bread was very good with a tasty tomato spread. The grilled octopus was delicious and well prepared. We shared the special salad which was also delicious - a wonderful homemade dressing and included nuts and fresh fruit. My swordfish with a puttenesca - type sauce (tomatoes, olives, herbs) was generous and well prepared. It came with a generous serving of delicious perfectly roasted small potatoes . We shared the gelato dessert which is a beautiful and delicious presentation with plenty of fresh fruit . It was a relaxing and fun evening. We will definitely be back.

This was probably the best Italian food I've ever had. The service was exceptional. The food was genuinely amazingly tasty and well portioned and frankly the cost was extremely reasonable. I wish I lived in NYC and could become a regular here. This will be my go to Italian restaurant for years to come.

Another amazing meal ! This is a small neighborhood restaurant that does everything right. Wondering and creative food , always good and reasonably priced wines and attentive staff. Can't recommend this place enough. Try it you'll be impressed

I didn't care for the food both myself and my family member didn't like the eggplant parm, it was not very hot when it was served. I read the reviews but didn't think the food was that great. We shared a Caesar salad and the eggplant parmigiana as appetizer. We ordered the monkfish and the salmon. The monkfish looked good it wasn't particularly delicious, and it was dry. The zucchini and the potatoes were well cooked, but the main dish was a letdown. The Salmon was too salty. It was our birthday but none of the desserts appealed to us. We got cappuccinos' they were good. We are not typically critical, we just didn't care for the food, and the reviews made it sound much better than it was. We would have rather eaten somewhere else.

We anticipated more! The food was bland at best and the pasta portions small. Frankly, we were disappointed as the ratings indicated a better experience. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service reasonably balanced but not over the top.

Wonderful restaurant with attentive service. The food is freshly prepared and delicious. The menu offers a wide variety and the value is outstanding for the quality. Wine is very reasonably priced and offers some excellent options. If you are in Hells Kitchen and would like to experience a good Sicilian focused meal with friendly staff and warm ambiance, then this is your place!
