It's a one hour omakase sushi place that has very good sushi at a very reasonable price ($79). They have some really nice pieces including O toro and Chu toro sushi. Quality was very good and every piece was very tasty.The only downside is as a 1 hour seating, you feel rushed. The chef was racing through the courses to finish early so they could upsell you extra pieces. Great and affordable omakase! We went for a double date with friends. The chefs were very friendly. The omakase experience was phenomenal. My birthday was earlier in the week - they surprised us with a birthday treat! We hope to be back next time we're in NYC!
Is omakase a science, or an art? At Shinn West, it's both, at a shockingly affordable price. Came here on a Thursday night and was able to secure a reservation a day before. I don't think walking in here is an option unless you get extremely lucky. The space is small with just two long omakase counters.
