Il Mulino - Downtown (West 3rd)

We go every year here to celebrate Christmas and look forward to the entire experience. This year was very different for us. We were not greeted with the enthusiasm we were used to. Much more basic like some other chain type places. Our meals were definitely good but just not the same as years past. The waiter seemed more interested in getting us in and out to collect a check/tip as compared to other years where we felt treated like special guests. We were a party of 5 and we expected to spend money and we did but when we compare the check vs the “rest”. We won’t be back. Unfortunately something has changed here and we will seek out other fine dining going forward.

We had a super weird waiter who kept saying “CoOoOoOL” every time we asked for something however I absolutely LOVE this restaurant. It’s so sexy and delicious. I love the pasta sampler. The langostines though are NOT worth $90. Get the shrimp instead.

We walked in cold, no reservations, a 5 top. They seated us within 5 minutes, the rest of the night, a dream! The waitstaff was so knowledgeable, brushetta and bread immediately, montepulciano in a split second, the best osso bucco in MY life and I’m in the business in Seattle.
Our family back in March, the best joint in NYC!

This has been by far our best experience dining in New York. The owner sat us on a busy night without a reservation, we had drinks while we waited and the food was just perfect. From the homemade bread to the pasta and the in-house made desserts!

I was at the restaurant on 10/02 to celebrate my birthday. The place is small and has the idea of ​​a candlelit dinner. It's very dark and to see the menu the waiter uses a flashlight. Because there is no ventilation, the room smells like candles, a nuisance here, as it has become my olfactory memory of the place. The dishes leave a lot to be desired, they do not correspond to the price charged. One of the dishes was lamb, I don't remember the name, but it had a very strong and bad smell. I thought I would have a complete experience, but it was frustrating. The bathroom is very close to the kitchen, practically next door. There are countless restaurants that deliver much more, whether for the same price or even less. I don't recommend it. Furthermore, when he found out that we were Brazilian, one of the waiters started playing catch and wanted to give us hugs, it was terrible.

This is hands down the best pasta I’ve ever had. Every time I come the experience is unmatched, the food is always great. The staff is the most welcoming, knowledgeable and friendliest. (This location specifically, not tribeca)

Me and my wife come here whenever there is something worth celebrating. The food is always great, our last visit however left us feeling slightly disappointed. A gratuity of 22% was already added to our bill which is a change from the usual, we always tip well so for it to be pre added to a party of 2 seems in poor taste. We also felt like we were rushed through the dining experience, even though we are younger (28) we were prepared to spend and have a nice evening and felt like we were robbed of that by them rushing our dishes out and asking about the next course before giving us a second to breathe
