Wow I was really surprised and happy to find this restaurant. We tried a variety of dishes including the spicy chicken and the lamb. The dishes were really good, the best I have had since being in the Washington DC area. The real great part here though, was the service and the friendly atmosphere. The owners? and all of the other employees were super friendly and helpful, even giving a hug on the way out. I really hope that the closed state is just a temporary situation.
If you're looking for the best Ethiopian food in the city, this is not it. We got the chicken sampler, which was A LOT of food, but I wouldn't say the best cooked or spiced that I've had (go to Awash or Meskerem in Manhattan). And, the injera was thicker, doughier, and not as soft as I've had. So, why the five stars? The service was AMAZING. The ambiance is something that you can't get anywhere else. Delicious Ethiopian food in a cool West Village setting. Absolutely delightful staff. Reasonably priced. If you like Ethiopian, you'll love Injera. If you haven't tried it, it's time and Injera is the place t CLOSED PERMANENTLY Nov 2019 - too bad
