IXTA Cocina Mexicana + Mezcal Bar

We waited for almost 2 hours for our food, and had to ask several times how much longer we had to wait. Well we were the ONLY customers there, so there was no excuse! After all that wait - to make things worse the portions were very small - especially for the price. Our bill was over $215 dollar! It's shame because the restaurant is beautiful. But never again!!

I was very disappointed with the service at IXTA. It took an unreasonably long time to receive our order, and the staff seemed disorganized and inattentive. While the food was taking forever the experience was frustrating and not what I expected. I hope the management takes steps to improve efficiency and customer service.

Didn’t expect this from this place since we reserved.

We visited this restaurant for a birthday dinner, and the only redeeming quality was the atmosphere. The service was decent, but the server's passive-aggressive attitude was off-putting. The food was average; I found a hair in my birria taco, which completely ruined the experience. The papas bravas were smothered in an overwhelmingly cayenne-heavy sauce that lacked balance. The chicken was tough and had a green sauce which overpowered the plate. The drinks were fine, though nothing remarkable. We ordered shots of the same tequila twice, but on the second round, the shots were mixed with both tequila reposado and blanco, despite not requesting that combination. While the decor and ambiance were nice, that was really the only highlight of the evening.

Great atmosphere, horrible service

The service was horrific. The manager did try to make up for it. But he also stated that they didn't expect such a large crowd. So the kitchen was backed up. It took us over 90 mins for food, that arrived as we put our coats on to leave. The Tacos were cold but tasty. The Street corn was delicious.

Beautiful space that should be very successful, but for reasons due to service that are mentioned in other reviews here, we won't be back. We went with friends and really enjoyed the food and drinks - everything was delicious! But the service was so slow and stilted that we almost left halfway through the meal. Our server was very friendly, but we kept having to ask for items we had already ordered, we waited for everything for SO long, there was constant confusion - I went to the bar to see if I could pay because we were just tired of waiting and waiting and waiting. One example: we could tell things were going to take forever, so we asked for chips and salsa to get us through. After 20 minutes, we asked about the chips and salsa, and then asked again...and then it came. It was good! I think they toasted the chips right there in the kitchen and the salsas were great, but it was just way. too. long. for chips and salsa. I hope this place can learn to provide good service, because it could be great!

We hosted an event at this location. Everything from the food to the decorations was great!

We sat at the bar with our bar tender Mia, and she is everything you could ever ask for in a bartender. The drinks were expertly crafted and she is a sweetheart. If you’re downtown in East Village, you will not be disappointed!

Ixta is such a beautiful place , I loved the service here , Mia was such an excellent bartender she was so sweet , very attentive and the drinks were amazing . I’m definitely coming back !!
