Nice old school kind of place with generous portions and plenty of vegetarian or vegan options. It gets pretty loud though.

I had such an amazing experience at this Italian restaurant! The portions are incredible super generous and delicious, definitely worth the visit. Toti, the manager, is truly amazing. You can tell he cares so much about the place and the staff; he’s always jumping in to help the servers and make sure everything runs smoothly. My server, Berat, was fantastic very attentive, respectful, and made the whole dining experience feel special. Hospitality like this is rare, and I appreciate it so much.
Highly recommend! I’ll definitely be coming back. 🍝🇮🇹

10/10, 5 stars!!! My friend and I went came to John’s on a Friday night and they were slammed! Despite the business, Miguel our waiter made us feel right at home! The vegan ragu was phenomenal and the wine was so tasty. The staff is so welcoming and friendly! Every seat in the restaurant was full, but the staff still took the time to check in on us throughout dinner. We will definitely be back <3

Wow! What can I say, this place is amazing. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the vegan food is out of this world! So many vegan options with a great portion size at no extra cost. Highly recommend the vegan ravioli. And the vegan desserts! My goodness! I could go on! The staff are super friendly, and it truly is a warm and cozy place. Highly recommend checking out on a fall/wintery evening.

I went last Wednesday for dinner. The food is good and the portion was very good. It is an old fashioned Italian restaurant which was cool! The service was very good also.

A very cosy and wholesome Italian place. The portion sizes are very large and you can easily share main between two. The dessert was average.

Tasty food, friendly server, brazen manager. Our evening was ruined by passive aggressive lecture from the GM on tipping culture disguised as a “check-in” on our service.

Ambiance and atmosphere is better than the food. A nice experience.

Ordered from the vegan menu. Food was very unseasoned and lacked texture. Very disappointing as we travelled to NYC and were looking forward to John’s. Extremely disappointed

We visited John's as part of a food tour and had the meatballs on spaghetti. Yum yum! Really enjoyed it. Such an iconic restaurant, and so when we return to New York we will definitely be pre-booking a table for a full meal.

Classic NYC Italian restaurant. Impressive vegan and vegetarian menu with classic Italian dishes made without meat or fish or dairy (if you’re vegan).

We are vegetarian and they were able to give us real cheese and real pasta making vegan entrées into vegetarian choices. So you can choose to eat the classic Italian food, exactly as you would expect it, or a vegetarian or a vegan version of that same dish. Chicken Parmigiana, for example, or Seitan Parmigiana.

The waiter was really friendly and came with a classic nyc accent and attitude. All good!
While we were there, Dennis O’Leary was giving his downtown New York mafia tour that he leads. He had a group in the back room. Apparently this is a very popular thing to do. The tour starts here in the back room of this restaurant where Lucky Luciano used to hang out with his mob buddies.

History aside, this place is quite a find for any vegetarian or vegan. We love Italian food and miss having the classic red sauce dishes. This place delivers! We will definitely go again. Highly recommended!
