The ingredients on my banh mi sandwich seemed fresh enough, but the bread is so awful it should be outlawed! The best part of a banh mi sandwich is the baguette: crisp and light from the addition of rice flour. This stale hoagie roll had no lightness, no crunch: it was heavy and just so wrong for this type of sandwich. In addition, their boba (tapioca pearls) were soft and soggy, either overcooked or old. So disappointing - would not return. Get on the 6 train and go down to Banh Mi Saigon on Elizabeth Street if you want to experience how delicious this sandwich can be.

Joju is quite popular. I've been to their original location in Elmhurst, and now I'm happy they've opened one closer to work. I usually go for the beef bulgogi bowl, which is really tasty, though the beef can be hit or miss--it's sometimes dry, but always well-marinated, no doubt about that. I love that they have the brown rice option. You can't go wrong with the Thai iced tea or Vietnamese iced coffee either--they're perfectly balanced, not too sweet. The monster spring roll is also a solid choice--crispy.

May 2025 update: they’re supposed to close at 5 but apparently have already stopped serving food at 4:40. So I rushed out of work to pick up food for nothing. Maybe update your business hours.

Original review:
This is a great, reasonably priced lunch spot. The food and delicious and filling; but know that it isn't really a sit-down place. There are a few tables where you can park it and eat your food; but the space is more for utility than aesthetics. Whether a bowl or sandwich, the food is good; but I'd recommend getting the bowls, if you want a bit more food (and maybe have a few bites for later!).

Pretty fast and casual lunch spot. I got the seitan bites bahn mi and the JoJu fries. Everything was really good. I really liked the fries although it was too much food for just me.

They executed a large order for 20 people flawlessly. Everything was labeled, ready on time and tasted great.

The food and atmosphere are both great. Had the Lemongrass Chicken Bahn-Mi on multiple occasions, and it's always been consistently good. It's also nice being able to use the kiosk to pick all of your options efficiently, and the breadth of choices and customization is well-appreciated. The prices are good also, and overall I'd highly recommend Joju.

It gets very busy here doing lunch time. Been passing by this spot almost two years now. Finally went in out of curiosity.
I wasn't in the mood for a big meal especially since I never been here and didn't want to spend manhattan lunch time money in this economy.
I appreciate the kiosk orders and it's pretty quick service. Very organized operation they have here. Lots of pork items but no pork on my fork please!
I opted for the fried spring rolls and they're the best I ever had. Spicy Mayo slapped too. I saved some sauce for later.
I'll come back here and try other things. Gotta put bae on I bet he'd like it.

Great banh mi sandwich. I got the #1 Sweet (JoJu) Banh Mi - the classic version. Someone in another review said the bread was horrible and tasteless - the bread is actually perfect - crusty, airy, and lets the other ingredients shine. This is how banh mi bread is supposed to be. Speaking of the other ingredients, they are high quality and fresh. I appreciated that they don't skimp at all with the julienned vegetable topping, giving it a refreshing crunch and brightness.

Want to gate keep this place because the food and service is impeccable! I always get the bulgogi bahn mi which is fulfilling and very tasteful. Great portions with extremely fast service. All of my colleagues and I are now regular customers and fans of JoJu.

The worst Banh Mi I ever had in my life. Chicken was super strange, skin on and few hairs on the skin.

Unexpectedly amazing bánh mi - best I’ve had in NYC. Good portion size, fast service, and consistent food quality. The caramelized pork is a unique addition that takes it a step beyond the average cold cut banh mi. My only complaint is that $16 seems a bit steep.
