An absolutely perfect dining experience at Jose Luis Restaurant! The food was incredible—definitely don’t miss the grilled octopus. Every tapa we tried was delicious, especially the pan-fried potatoes, fried calamari, and garlic shrimp. The portions are generous too—we planned to order more, but the four tapas we shared between the two of us were more than enough to leave us completely full. On top of that, the staff was super friendly and made the whole experience even better.

Superb under the radar restaurant in the ABC. Paella and tapas is their main game, with two non-seafood paellas on the menu as a bonus for the shellfish worried.

Some of the tapas plates are pricey, but the portions are better than average. The Mediterranean Plate ($20) stood out for variety and portion.

Jose is the absolute greatest of all time. Squid ink paella was amazing. Hospitality made you feel like youve known him for years.

Good food and drinks, they had one guy bartending and serving for the entire restaurant, the tapas also took ~40 mins to come out from when we orderes. Honestly if there was even one more person waiting tables it would have been excellent. The guy apologized and was great given all he had to handle, he was constantly running around and the place wasnt that busy but it was clearly a lot to bartend and wait an entire restaurant on his own.

1. Their Happy Hour is INSANELY good. Half off of apps, special drink prices, amazing service - truly a draw.
2. The service is fabulous and Jose is a gem in the neighborhood. It is so great to meet an owner who cares so much.
3. Super convenient - you're a short walk from the L or the M8 or M14 bus - you have no excuses! :)

Went here on a date with my girlfriend, absolutely amazing experience! Food and the atmosphere was wonderful. Had a mishap with my food dropping on the ground (which happens) and the owner offered us glasses of wines and shots on the house to make up for it. Incredibly kind staff, will recommend to absolutely everyone!

Not only is it a nice hole in the wall, the food was great and Mr Luis himself was a charismatic and attentive server! Couldn't recommend a better low key place in the East Village!
