A friend and I split a platter for 2, I don’t remember which. I thought it was the perfect sushi binge destination. The service was welcoming and gracious while we stayed past closing time. The proximity to village east by Angelika is a huge plus! It was the perfect thing to do after a studio Ghibli movie.

We were in NYC for 2 short days. After looking through different reddit recommendations and online searches, I've decided to try Kanoyama. The service was prompt. Our reservation was at 5:30, the restaurant wasn't busy when we started, by the time we were done. It was busy and all tables were full.

Walked in here on a Sunday afternoon for dinner and was seated right away.
The sushi was overall pretty good. We got the sushi special and sashimi special. It is kind of on the pricey side but overall the price isn't too bad given the quality of fish.
One thing that takes away one star from atmosphere is that it was quite warm inside the restaurant and the temperature outside was 90s at the time.

Excellent quality sashimi and great selection of appetisers! Black cod was so delicious and perfectly cooked as the fish just flakes 😋. Corn tempora was crunchy and sweet.

Tbh did really enjoy my dinner experience - had a sake and chirashi bowl, was extremely happy about my choice. It’s pretty noise inside during dinner time, but in general love this space.
My friend and I come here every year to celebrate our birthdays and it never disappoints. The sushi is amazing, and reasonably priced considering the very high quality! The appetizers are fantastic too.
