Really cool old place that serves something mouthwatering. But the reality was waiting in line from 15 until 1630. Fighting for a table first a real good sandwich. With less wait would be worth another visit. But now.. naaa.

Online pickup or order in. Expect a short waiting line but food is delivered quickly. The sandwiches are incredible.

It was worth standing in line for half an hour that stretched around the block!!! The line moves quite quickly, you get a note that you keep and pay according to what is written on it at the end. At the stand, they let you taste the meat so that you can decide beforehand what to take. We took the classic pastrami. It's just a huge sandwich! We shared it, so the price in my opinion was not terrible, but keep in mind that it is almost 30 dollars for a sandwich. In our opinion it was worth it. The pastrami melts in your mouth and the pickles they make are excellent. There is a lot of fat in this so be prepared.

Well known delicatessen from decades past. Large sandwiched. Very busy. Location of famous "fake orgasm" scene from When Harry Met Sally.

Where do I start. I came here about 10 years ago or more when I was in my early 20s. Now I'm in my late 30s. I went yesterday, April 14, 2024. The line was down the block, and the bouncer offered to let me skip the line for a tip. I got in and went to cutter 8 as that was the shortest line. What a mistake that was. The guy in front of our line ordered 5 sandwiches. The wait at the cutter line was excruciating. That was at least another 30 minutes as I had 3 other people in front of me. I finally ordered a pastrami and sat down to eat it. One sandwich costs close to $30. I guess it's due to inflation. But one sandwich can feed two people, so if you have a friend and decide to split, then you're paying $15 for half a sandwich. Honestly, it's nothing special it's just okay. It's not worth the wait, and I wouldn't go again. It was difficult getting a table as everyone and their mother's were there. Also, make sure you get a ticket for each person that enters the restaurant. When you leave, each person must return their ticket. That's how they keep track of who is allowed to leave and what to pay. They write on the ticket what you ordered. My daughter didn't have a ticket, so they gave me issues about that. Thank the bouncer for his mistake. I know this is a NYC staple and not trying to knock them, but there are better places to go to for the time and money you save. Tourists are keeping this place alive. People giving them 5 stars are tourists that apparently haven't had a pastrami sandwich in their hometown and are getting excited due to their long-time reputation and crowd hype. Think about its meat between two slices of bread for close to $30 before taxes. Don't be a dummy like me and everyone else.

I don’t understand the hype for this place. Super expensive prices compared to what they offer. The taste is not something special. Hygiene is something that is not known to them obviously. Unfortunately it didn’t meet our standards.

The place is bad, there is a lot of confusion, the food is bad. Don't trust advertisements on the quality of pastrami...it's not so good as they say. The prices are too high and there is an elevate risk of contracting bacteria...if you pay with cash...they will give you a receipt, without anything written on it..
