We usually love Knickerbocker, but last night service and food was off. We ordered the steak for 2 and there was more fat than meat. Very disappointing. Lobster bisque was cold twice. The rest of the meal was fine. Service was not attentive as it usually is. Overall, disappointing especially at that price point.
Disappointed. I try to go a few times and year. The lobster bisque was served cold and then microwaved to make it slightly warmer. The shrimp served as garnish were overcooked due to microwaving. The porterhouse was perfectly cooked but the mashed potatoes were cold inside a very hot serving container. Waitstaff was helicopter-y and insisted we decide to order the chocolate souffle when our mains were delivered. We waited to order it until our plates were cleared - not sure why they tried to insist we order earlier. Was planning to go back for a holiday dinner. Not so sure now.
This long time neighborhood restaurant has maintained its food quality and local vibe for de ages. This is our regular dinner spot when going to The Blue Note for a concert. We had a great local striped bass, well prepared.
Food is always tasty and reliable and it's a great place for before a performance a the Public Theater.
Genuin resturang in old style Very good tasty food Perfect service on both bar and table Sound level was perfect for me Nice staff gave us o pleasant evening We recommend this restaurant
It is always a great time at the Knickerbocker Bar and Grill and this time was no exception. The occasion was for my 77th birthday and it was so much fun! The food and servce were just out of this world.! It was so good, in fact that I made a reservation for Thanksgiving dinner there as well! Can't wait to gobble gobble gobble up that yummy holiday fare!
Hadn't been to Knickerbocker's in 6-7 years. Booked an early dinner as we were heading to the NY Rangers hockey game. Of course we ordered the T-Bone (for 2 of us) with the mashed potatoes and spinach. Everything was outstanding. Our waitress, Stephanie (from Reading, PA) was engaging, funny, and helped make the dinner and experience outstanding. We shared a few laughs and she couldn't have been more attentive. I've always loved Knickerbockers and will definitely be back again soon. 10 out of 10.
Exceeded expectations. It looks a bit like a sports bar or piano bar from the street, but is a very nice restaurant with live music on Friday & Saturday nights. Get reservations. Classic old tavern menu. Very good food and service. We had the Steak Frites ($41) and Roasted Chicken ($38).
I love Knickerbocker Grill. I've been going for years and it never disappoints. The steak frites was delicious as was the shrimp scampi. It's my neighborhood 'go to' and will always be.
Lovely evening. Everyone was so welcoming at the front door and at the table. We were given the perfect booth. Rib-eye for two, shrimp cocktails and gin martinis. Perfect, Perfect evening. The Knick has been our regular neighbourhood haunt for 30+ years.

Love Knickerbocker. We brought 2 friends and a great time was had by all! Excellent food, wine, and service.
The Knick is my local hand BUT, the food is inconsistent. I have never had rice there, jasmine or otherwise, that is light and fluffy. Instead, it is ALWAYS crunchy and undercooked. Seems like this is something that should be easy to get right but the never do. The cornbread is outstanding-the best I've ever had and except for the rice, the tuna dish is delicious, though I wish they would serve it with something green and not carrots.
Amazing as always!!! The maitre'd is legendary....always runs the room to perfection!! Seating, atmosphere and class. Plus a meal that is consistently as good as it gets...this is a city gem that never fails to deliver!!
I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant that felt discriminatory and unwelcoming. When we were finally seated, our server made it very clear that if every person at the table did not order a full entrée, we “shouldn’t have been seated in the first place.”
This policy was never communicated upfront, and the tone in which it was delivered was dismissive and embarrassing. Dining out is supposed to be an inclusive and enjoyable experience, but we were made to feel unwelcome and singled out. It is unacceptable to treat paying customers this way.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because no one should leave a restaurant feeling disrespected or discriminated against.
