Apparently this place is the oldest bialy maker in nyc. Unpopular opinion but I don’t see the difference between a bialy and bagel here other than the bialy is smaller. Its like a mini bagel. It was good especially with scallion cream cheese but didn’t see the hype with the difference in a bialy. Overall, I had a good experience and would go back. Not sure I would go out of the way though.

They are not the same as I would purchase in the 60's, 70's 80's Everything is so different in the texture and taste especially the Bialy's

I stopped here to get a bagel sandwich. Even though I was starving it was not great, bagels tasted old. I was very disappointed, maybe I’ll go back and try it a second time to make sure.

I received a box filled with lots of products from Kossar's deli in NYC as a gift. It included bagels, spreads, bialys, lox, pastrami, rye bread, mustard, etc. you get it - a considerably costly package. The lox were packaged as pastrami (picture included) and the quality of the pastrami was not even something I would feed my dog (picture included). If I were served that in the deli I would have sent it back to the kitchen. I guess because I live 2000 miles away they thought they could send me this crap. I tried calling, was told that Suzanna (supposedly the manager) was busy and I should call back in an hour. I waited 1 1/4 hr, called back and was told she was still busy to call back in 2 hours or I could leave my name & number and she would call be back. When I didn't receive the call back I went online sent voices my complaint and sent photos. Then I called back AGAIN (clearly getting the run around) was told Suzanna was busy and I can be reassured they would take care of the situation. It is now 6:15 eastern time, the deli is closed and I have not heard from them. My advice to anyone thinking of a mail order from this deli is beware..... They will not make good after sending out a second rate product. If I could give a 0 for the experience I would.

A classic spot to get bagels and bialys in Lower East Side. Kossar’s is famous for its bialys, so apparently their bialys are top notch, even better than their bagels imo.*Onion BialysBialy is a flat roll with a hole in the center spread with onion. It has a soft bread like texture. Compared to bagels, bialys are less dense and less filling. If you don’t wanna unhinge your jaw for a bagel, bialys will be a good alternative.Their bialys are very fresh and fluffy. You can add spread to your bialys, but I like enjoying them plain.*Whole Wheat Bagel w. Tofu Veggie CCMy go-to bagel order at any bagel spots. Size-wise it is not as big as other typical New York bagels. I prefer it smaller anyway so I won’t feel extremely full after finishing one.

I'm sort of surprised by the low reviews! I thought Kossar's was a great spot, both for regular bagels as well as the bialys. It was my first time trying one, and I was surprised at how yummy and moist (I can't think of any other word hahaha) they are. Even though they're thin, they hold up well in an egg sandwich and are a fun switch up to a bagel! The staff is great too - super helpful and friendly. There's not a ton of seating but you can likely grab a spot during an off-time!

Can’t believe that a cream cheese bagel and a coffee costs around $10! And coffee doesn’t taste good as well.I usually avoid chains and go for local shops but I think I need to start getting my coffee from Dunkin Donuts for half a price!

Trust me - don't toast your bagel here! This is my new favorite bagel in NYC. I had the Kossar's Classic the other day and for the first time I didn't toast my bagel. Game changing. The bite and texture of the bagels are top notch and the chewiness from going un-toasted was terrific. I like that they make all of their bagels on site. You can look through the window and watch the process which is neat. Also would recommend the bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel (pictured) and the garlic bialy with whitefish salad. The combo is insane.

Had an egg and cheese on everything with sausage and avocado and the best part was the bagel. Which is the point. Delish. Staff was friendly and prompt.

Came here on a food tour yesterday and I would definitely go back to try more things. Ordered an egg everything bagel lightly toasted with strawberry cream cheese. Zero complaints from me. The bagel was soft and delicious and perfectly toasted. The cream cheese had a very nice strawberry flavor and I love how pink it was. As it should be since it was strawberry. Haha!! And they definitely don't skimp on the amount of cream cheese. Had a good amount with every bite. The staff was very nice as well. Helped with any questions I had and they seemed happy to be there. Will return if I'm in the area.

Ordered a heavily advertised over baked fresh biyali. After taking a tiny first bite it was headed for the trash. Stale, hard, flavorless... one and done
