I went in there for a red eye and a slice of Teramisu. It was really good and the caffinated beverage is exactly what I needed.

I've lived in the neighborhood for ~10 years and wish this place were good but I can honestly say I've been here probably 7-8 times over the years and absolutely never had something that tasted fresh or even tasty, which is so unfortunate. Maybe their specialties are things I don't order (I've never bought a cake, say). But the cookies, macarons and pastries have always been at best mediocre.

I see the business responding to some reviews here (including a few with similar vibes to this one) -- I just wish you would improve! There are so many good bakeries in the city, including olde timey ones. I don't know what to advise honestly, it's possible you really do have loyal regulars, but for me what you do doesn't work, and I'd hope you change things up, maybe rework your recipes, make fewer products, and focus on upping the quality.

I'd really love to have a good bakery or pastry shop in the neighborhood. Until then I'll keep staying away and telling others to keep making the trek to Bourke Street Bakery...

I hate to give an awful review but I've been to this place 3 times over the past few years and every time it has been terrible. I really want to support a local business, so I gave it my 3rd and final attempt. First time the pastries were old as heck. 2nd time the cream was literally sour, again, old. This last time I tried an apple crumble slice - I have no idea what they make this from but it had a weird taste, like a gross almond essence, there was barely any apple flavor in it. All 3 times, all totally inedible.

I think all of the problems boil down to them filling their shelves with a huge range of products, that then take forever to sell. I walk past this daily, and I see the racks in the windows that don't change for days. So unless you're lucky, you'll be getting very old product. I can only assume the apple crumble was weird tasting as they had to somehow make an apple filling that won't go bad for the week it sits out. I don't know why they don't just reduce their range and make nice, fresh product. Quantity over quality doesn't work for fresh goods, particularly those with cream.

I thought maybe I was unlucky twice but no, avoid this place. I honestly don't understand how it has stayed in business. I'll also say, they repeatedly mention in responses to bad reviews calling out their stale goods that they bake stuff fresh, daily. That may be true that they're baking stuff every day, but they certainly aren't baking every product every day. No doubt baking big batches of stuff on rotation, which leads to the stale crap they charge full price for. Don't risk it, life is too short to waste money and calories on stale slop.

Edit after owner response: absolute bs that they rotate stock repeatedly. I have pics in my camera roll of the rum/lemon/strawberry etc cakes in the side window from 5pm August 30, and one from sep 2 after 6pm - you can tell they're exactly the same from the individual icing etc. 4 days MINIMUM those cakes were sitting there in the window. Instead of denying the truth, maybe just lift your game? And 3 times isnt enough to judge? How many times do you expect people to go to get one decent baked good? There are enough reviews calling out your stale, mouldy goods that you should realize it's a problem. Don't get me started on your health department record which I just looked up. Blegh.

I was craving a sweet treat and popped in to grab a couple of pastries, but I was pretty disappointed by the taste. The strawberry shortcake was soggy at the bottom, and the strawberry jam had an odd flavor. It was so cold it also tasted frozen as well. The baba-rum also didn't taste great, but maybe that was the rum flavoring we didn't like. The pastry itself was super dry in both of the pastries. Overall, I wouldn't recommend their pastries - though the cakes might be different.

Stopped in for some desserts on a Thursday night. I was disappointed. The cake was not really fresh and the biscotti lacked flavor. The cannoli were just ok.

I typically don't write bad reviews of Mom & Pop places but the icing on the cake, no pun intended, was that I was given 2 small plastic forks and I politely asked for 2 more and I was told I had to pay $1 for the forks. I spent $30 and was charged $1 for two extra plastic forks! Of course, its not the $1 but the principle. I hope the $1 was worth it for the business because I'll never stop by that place again. Look elsewhere folks. Shame on you La Delice!

Very dissappointed in the oreo mousse. My husband and I had a lovely Italian dinner then stopped by for some pastries. When we opened the oreo mousse it was very wet at the bottom. Was very soggy and disgusting.

We went in to try couple different things. First of all not only that he didn’t offer any samples, but even after guessing and ordering a little bit of each we spent $20 and literally nothing was good. Everything was old and stale.

Super classic, very old school NYC bakery. I get last minute cakes here for work birthdays, dinner parties, they're affordable ($40ish dollars for a 12-15 person cake) and classic. Great off the shelf flavors available. Have not yet tried their cookies and other baked goods - but they look incredible.
