Gorgeous little seating area that was crowded only one time out of the month I spent getting lunch there several times a week. Quick and kind service, and the Mr. Edmund haunts my dreams for how good it is.

I love that its never overly crowded, its student/work friendly (plugs to charge your laptop) and friendly wifi. The croquetes are scrumptious ! The service is so nice. Thank you for giving me a space to study after work ?

A tad pricey, but good food and a nice atmosphere

Historic and cute storefront with a really delicious set of offerings, like the name says.

This place has been around for a while, I hope it keeps it rustic. Both bad and good, I loved how it felt like it was a modern sandwich shop in some foriegn nation 10 years ago ran mostly by a Japanese staff but then they had wait service. Now it is more like a fast casual, which I appreciate too as it feels less bougie but no longer ran by these delightful staff of the yesteryear, just a grumpy dude. The sandwiches are still hearty.

Got hot chocolate, great soup, good sandwiches. Nice to sit in and eat ‘n’ read....oops sorry. I do not know what is going on here but my daughter and I have been there 5 times in the past few months and have ot consummated a purchase. 2x or 3 x they said they were closing an hour or more early, 2x they did not have soup, and this last time they tried to overcharge us $5,00 for 2 combos. They made us wait at least 5 minutes while they ate and talked in the back and then when he finally deigned to come up front, refused to acknowledge the register error or to input the correct sandwiches-the reason it was overcharging. Then said it was the system. They must be trying to close the place. Owner should know. we wont be back. Too bad used to be one of our favorite places....

Cozy spot in Union Square with yummy sandwiches, excellent tomato soup and the best Belgian hot chocolate I've tasted in a long time!

Wow wow wow, how have I not written a review about this place before? I've been coming here for years and just love love love it. What a cozy spot with delicious food. Their soup and sandwich combos are perfect for winter weather. Their prices are reasonable for the amount and quality you get, which is why I keep coming back. Most of the seating is upstairs with a nice window looking out onto 13th street. You order and pay downstairs and then pick up your food too. I only wish they would run the food upstairs to you instead of you having to wait for it downstairs. I come here all the time for lunch, but haven't yet been for breakfast! Need to check it out. Their chocolate pudding they have occasionally is also one of the most scrumptious things I've ever had! I've tried almost everything on the menu and it's all golden, so you can't go wrong!

I kind of ducked in here in between semesters and had the whole upstairs to myself. Downstairs might look just like a small coffee kiosk with French sandwiches - the upstairs is a hidden shotgun nook that feels sort of fancy with its dim lights dark wood finishes and old French looking tan walls. The man at the counter said that normally the place was packed and although I didn't try a croque I had coffee which was good. Little hidden spots like this are a good thing about New York City and it's right near union square. Coffee house with a gimmicky snack, Disney Paris vibe and a student crowd.

Haven't been here in years but my boyfriend and I stopped in earlier this month and it definitely holds up. Mr. gore and Mr. Otto sandwiches were both great, and I liked the tomato soup. Plenty of seating upstairs.

Darn good grilled cheese! Good coffee too!

It was a good place to chill and has some quiet time in a noisy city. The food and drink is nothing special though.
