La Nacional Reviews
We felt abandoned by the staff. Waiting a while at the door to even be met by the hostess, they never gave us any condiments, multiple requests to get a simple first refill of water, which took five minutes to be given, standing for a couple of minutes two feet from a waiter, who was talking with the bartender, politely waiting to ask for a toothpick; the service sucked!!! They never once asked if everything was ok 😳

La Nacional is a Spanish restaurant in Manhattan known for its delicious and generous food portions. After its renovation, it features a larger space with two single-stall bathrooms. This restaurant has been a tradition for some to celebrate birthdays for five years, enjoying authentic food and personalized attention. The menu includes dishes such as croquetas, Patatas bravas, squid ink black rice, and paella, which has been praised as the best by recent customers. The chef from Valencia creates wonderful Valencia-inflected rice dishes alongside classic Spanish offerings. The staff are friendly and accommodating, often checking on customers throughout the night. The value of the food portions, quality, and prices make it a highly recommended dining experience. The atmosphere is great, and on certain nights, there may even be a spirited flamenco show upstairs.
Customers have enjoyed the sangria, described as the best they've ever had, and the selection of tapas is excellent. Dishes like the mussels, calamari, shrimp, chicken paella, empanadas, and potato croquettes receive high praise. Guests have noted the largest octopus served on a plate of mashed potatoes, which was tasty and almost sweet, along with a lemon dessert that is a must-try. The prices are unbeatable in the area, and the friendly staff enhance the overall experience, with particular mention of the hostess. For those who visit New York, a dinner at La Nacional is an obligatory choice, offering a fascinating window into the history of the Spanish immigrant community in NYC. Customers will definitely be back to try more of their appetizers and enjoy the comfortable, informal surroundings.
