Bustling spot, shared artichoke and scallop apps and had pork chop and salmon entrees. Service gracious despite restaurant packed. It’s very loud - bring ear plugs lol

I rarely miss dining at Lavagna when I travel to NY from VA on business, which is 4 times a year. Be it the cozy space, friendly staff, great food or awesome wine list, Lavagna has come to feel like home, making me miss home a little less. Craig

Our favorite Italian in the East village. Small do make a reservation. Very nice but smallish menu. Never had other than a fine dinner here. Lovely and helpful staff.

Had excellent romantic anniversary dinner for two where we have occasionally dined in the past. Was a perfect choice for us in all respects: eats, service, and ambience!!

A hidden family-run italian restaurant. A lovely date night spot or for a long overdue catch up over wine. Always skeptical about italian restaurants, but the food was extremely flavourful. Had the arrabbiata spaghetti, usually not a fan, but SO good. Lovely wine pairing as well. The artichoke and bean puree started was divine

The setting was so amazing. Calm, chill, easy to have a conversation. We loved the ragu, the broccoli rabe and the panacotta was oh so perfect. The wait staff was very gracious. We will return!

Absolutely a Gem! One of my secret favorite places to go. Typically I would go alone enjoy a three course meal some wine and head home super relaxed and at peace! This place is such a classy soulful place! Cozy; the food is always beyond my expectations! Always looking forward to sharing this place with truly special people. Definitely a memorable romantic date kind of place. Where you go for your anniversary. It’s really that special!!!

This was my 5th visit to Lavagna and it never disappoints. If you're craving legit Italian food that actually feels like Italy, Lavagna on the Lower East Side is a must. It's cozy, unpretentious, and packed with charm. The food and service are both outstanding. Robby was beyond accommodating with his excellent wine recommendations, meal selections, and allowing us to stay for over 3.5 hours. Prices are reasonable for NYC and the portions are solid. Can't wait to return!

Delicious trattoria food, phenomenal wine list, and a warm, lively vibe. I've been coming here since it opened in 1999, and even though I moved out of the neighborhood many years ago, it is still and by far my favorite Italian in the East Village and well worth the trip to Alphabet City. Yorgos and his team are charming, knowledgable, and professional. The daily specials stand out in an already great menu. We've been introduced to some outstanding Greek wines throughout the years and always look forward to going back. Dining at Lavagna is what a great night out in the East Village should be.

Do not sit outside at night. Rats were everywhere, and lights from across the street shone directly in my eyes. I had to cover my face throughout the entire meal. The inside looks cute, though. To make matters worse, the waitress forgot our order, the food did not taste fresh (with so much great Italian in NYC, why would you go here?), and the bill was insanely expensive. Maybe I ordered wrong (I did not like the pasta with peas - their most popular dish).
