First time to Le Pain Quotidien, I was told each location is a bit different.

What I liked about this location in the Columbus Circle area was it was just in a bit off the main street and not as loud or busy as a few other coffee/breakfast/bakery/lunch spots I stopped into in the immediate area.

Theme is French country, with lots of unfinished wood cabinetry. Up front is a bread/pastry case that looked amazing.

Can I simply say this is the most beautiful French cafe?! The waiters were pleasant & the maitre de Babu was bubbling over with enthusiasm for his work. So often in the restaurant industry people are only looking for a stop gap…but not Babu. He clearly loves his work and is so passionate about what he does. So I asked him how long he has been there and I was surprised & delighted when he said 12 years! Well there is a reason & he is the perfect person for the job....
Walking into this restaurant felt like stepping into a cozy little French bistro with its inviting atmosphere. The kind of place where you half expect a charming server to recommend the perfect wine pairing in a thick Parisian accent. That was not the case.
