I live in Chicago, and I'm always surprised how we have so many Puerto Rican restaurants there that run circles around what NYC offers. That said, the pernil here was flavorful and had the sofrito and aji and adobo and the correct flavors, and the service was very good and quick (he speaks enough English to help someone like me who's not fluent in Spanish). But, I was disappointed with a) how dry the pernil was, 2) the very bland arroz con gandules, and 3) the chewy...
To my surprise, this little place has great food. Arroz con gandules, pernil & sweet plantain was delicious. The attention was great. Next time I'll visit NY, I will stop by to taste something else.
