Dined this time in a party of 6. As usual, I enjoyed the eggs benedict, as did one other in our group. Another had the pancakes, and others had egg dishes - everyone in agreement: delicious! It's always noisy, no matter how busy the restaurant, but everyone enjoyed the overall experience. Our service person was very appropriately friendly and efficient. She even took time to take our group photo - much appreciated. Thanks again, L'Express!

The food is delicious — we had steak frites and the porkchop. Both were first rate, as were the onion soup and the chocolate cale. The service is friendly and efficient, the prices are reasonable (especially for Manhattan) and the atmosphere is lively and congenial. Highly recommended.

Fresh food, with excellent service by Lily. My friend and I ate outside. It was very pleasant. Food is consistently tasty and service efficient and friendly. Its a wonderful neighborhood restaurant.

We had a lovely lunch and sat for a long time - we never felt rushed and the service was impeccable. Definitely a great spot for good food and drinks with the feel of a French brasserie.

This used to be one of my favourite places to go to. The food and service are still very good. However, for some reason, they have added waaaaay too many tables inside. You can't even get into the chairs because you are just so close to the next table. I arrived early and could not get into my seat. I was given another table. While waiting for my friends, another party came in and they, too, had to be seated elsewhere because they could not get into their table. This was absurd. By the time my friends arrived they could not get into the table where I was sitting. Thankfully, the weather was beautiful so we asked if they would open up the outside and they obliged. Thank God!! Needed to get out of that restaurant. Will definitely return to L'Express but only if we can be seated outside.

Recently had brunch there and was excited to return but, definitely has gone down hill. It didn't seem very clean inside and glassware was a little sticky. I also got very sick after from the sauteed spinach and think they're not cleaning their produce properly. My husband's entry (hard to mess up as it was scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast) was fine for him. I got the frittata and it was too cheese and greasy. They have a great variety on the menu but, not sure I would go back.

Music is just wrong for the place. It feels like we're in a deli or a club. Really disappointing and so out of place. Why is there a TV in such a place?? And having lunch eating a steak when we are forced to watch rodeo isn't the most delightful experience, sorry. One good point though: our waiter (Adan) was very professional and did an amazing job. The steaks are good sizes but too much fat and a bit overdone. We're French and this is NOT a classy French restaurant. The place is nice but the music is WRONG and the TV is WRONG. Let's not mention the rodeo. Thank you Adam for making this bearable

Good late night spot. Casual, loud, and crowded. Food was just ok, escargot and duck confit were standouts. Would skip the gnocchi and the arugula salad. Drinks were meh. Service was great.

Unhappy

An obscene waste of time and money. We sat for a 6:15 reservation and got our food at 7:05PM - we ordered no drinks or appetizers, just entrees. I sat with an empty water glass as waiters milled around pretending to look busy and didn't get my first cup filled until I had already finished my food. We scarfed our entrees down in 15 minutes so we could make a movie showing, asked for the check when our food finally came so that we could get out of there, and then had to ask for the check again, because they forgot. We had a 7-person party, for which gratuity was already included. Nonetheless, our waiter stood over my shoulder and watched me take my phone out and calculate an additional 20% tip without having the decency to point out that the tip had already been included, meaning that they received a 40% tip for all of this atrocious service.

The Niçoise salad is much better than the one I had in Nice, France, where the dish originated. The one at L’Express is made with fresh seared tuna in comparison to the one in Nice that was made with a can of oily tuna. The baby artichoke at L’Express was also exceptional.Prices of food and cocktails are reasonable for NYC, and the service at the bar was superb.

Says open 24/7 all over their awning outside. Closes at 2:30 when we walk in. Absolute liars

Picked the restaurant randomly and could not have been more pleased. Server was happy and professional. Food was delicious! Artichoke appetizer was amazing and my husband thought the French onion soup was the best he's had in NY. Entrees were great. All around A+

16 hour bistro rocking. Classic. So many stories. Solid and delicious options provided by great service.

The food, service and atmosphere here are all 5 stars! The escargot here is some of the best I’ve tried. Their steak tartare was fresh and flavorful. The prices here are also very reasonable for a French restaurant.
