Fantastic food and service with a friendly and professional scene. Would highly recommend and recommend the chef's table for seating.
Luthun is a must if you are in NY. Heck, if you are within a days travel, you must try this nondescript East Village spot headed by chef Nahid. Each course of the tasting menu provoked visions of far off lands, yet there was a comforting familiarity. The service matched the extraordinary food and was refined, but not pretentious. A truly memorable experience.
I had an amazing dinner here. The dishes are incredible and beautifully presented. I love fine dining and this is one of the most memorable in a long time.
Wonderful place
One of the best meals of my life - couldn’t recommend it enough! Dishes were brilliant with diverse flavors blending perfectly and stunning plating. Service was perfect and the sommelier was exceptional. Already planning when we can come back!
How on earth is this place not michelined? One of the best experience ive ever had. Come hungry and patient. Its a worthy experience.
I love Asian flavors and was amazed by creative, unique and at the same time harmonious combinations in each dish. Unfortunately, I had to take two stars off because of the quality of meat that is expected to be excellent when you pay over $200! The piece of meat in short ribs dish was tiny and mostly FAT. I left pretty much all of it on my plate. The chef instead of asking if there is anything wrong with it and offering to replace it, as most restaurants would do, simply asked if he can take it away and did just that.

We visited here with my brother who had been once before. We did the tasting menu with wine pairing and it totally blew our minds. Every mouthful was a taste of heavenly wonder that I don't have enough adjectives to describe - so will settle with stunning, delicious, magical and amazing. We were taken on a journey around the world with different tastes and flavours and textures and sensations that lingered in the mouth. I've honestly never tasted food like it. Every course was a stand out success both in taste and presentation. The wines were also well thought out and delicious. The staff were fantastic and knowledgable and happy to answer any questions and the overall atmosphere was informal and friendly. If I were to go again I woukd try for a table at the counter where I could watch the talented chefs at work. Alas, we don't live in the US so it might be a while...In the meantime I will tell everyone I know to go and try this amazing gem

Foodies Rejoice! Our 10th - yes, 10th - visit to Luthun and have never been let down. Chefs Nahid and Arjuna offer the most creative tasting menu in NYC at a more-than-reasonable price. We have tried over 20 other tasting menus in NYC and Luthun is simply tops. The mix of deep complex flavors contrasting with bright and fresh element leave your mouth dancing with excitement. The wine list is filled with modern natural wines as well as some older world stuff - you will find something you like a a reasonable price, or go with the pair and be prepared to walk out seriously tipsy. The somm is generous.

A restaurant you can't miss in New York.
Without a doubt the treatment and the dishes with which they represent their delicacy for what they love the most, food, will leave you with an idea of what it means to do what you love.
Totally grateful for this great experience

big hospitality. world class layers of presentation, plating, technique, taste, texture. Chefs know all the classical rules and also know how to break them. global influence and balanced. wine list and somm service is correct and approachable for all levels of wine knowldege. Was there for a Chateau Musar wine pairing dinner and it was exquisite--the food stands up to the wine and vice versa

Luthun was a fabulous experience with every dish leaving you with nuanced and complex flavours. The singular theme running through the fall menu was spice both in terms of heat and meticulous use of various spices and herbs. The seafood was treated with reverence and it was light and refreshing. The two beef dishes were hearty and robust anchoring the middle seafood "mains".
All in all it was a spectacular dining experience and one that took about 2 hours and 15 minutes. The three of us didn't realise that so much time had elapsed. Our reservation was yesterday (Friday) at 7pm and we were slightly delayed and eventually the first course was served at 7.30. It felt leisurely and unrushed and the noise levels were perfect for an intimate conversation. At USD150 per pax I challenge anyone to have a better dining experience in NYC.
We're already planning our visit when the winter menu drops.

Food was excellent, but the service was overly pretentious and condescended to us on a request to skip a course: “sorry you’re not getting out of this, chef won’t allow it”

Fantastic experience. Never experienced such an innovative and fun tasting menu! The sommelier also did an amazing job describing all the wines and how they paired with the food. 10/10 will definitely be back!
