I've been here more times than I'd prefer to admit... The cupcakes are consistently a soft but dense cake with balanced icing. I haven't seen anything like the ice box cake at any other bakery nearby, it's great for when you're really craving something sweet. The service has always been good, the workers help everyone promptly and have never messed up my order. Tonight I went and two welcoming gentlemen were working - they were patient in explaining the seasonal cupcake flavors and helpful with choosing which ones to get. I really appreciated the warmth and hospitality, it just goes to show that even with as much traffic as this place sees, they still take good care of their customers.

I must say that I left with great enthusiasm, I bought a red velvet (cake not good but very good buttercream), I took a banana pudding but nothing exceptional.

The name in this case is not directly proportional to the quality, finally I would say to the saleswomen please a smile you are in New York!

The banana pudding is delicious, but hard to enjoy when the workers there act SO annoyed that you even exist in front of them.

I have to say that the velvet cake and espresso were very good for New York. The service was a huge flaw. It was probably the only place where they were rude and almost angry.

Very unpleasant experience.
I came at 9:15 PM to buy a banana pudding. Not only did they rudely tell me that there was no banana pudding left, but also said: “Choose something else or leave.”
When I calmly replied, “Okay, I’ll take another one then,” they said they were already closed and that I needed to leave quickly.

I stepped outside and sat at a table, but then the Black cashier came up to me again and told me to get out because they were closed — even though Google Maps clearly shows they’re open until 10 PM.

This kind of rude and disrespectful attitude toward customers is unacceptable. I came here specifically to try their famous dessert, but left with a terrible impression.

We all know what Magnolia Bakery represents and how good it used to be or at least my younger self thought so. However, now it is kinda really bad - the famous banana pudding tastes powdery and quite artificial. Don't get me started on other dessert. I respect their history a lot but it's a no for me from now on.
Also, very rude staff - without hello or nothing, treating their customers with attitude is not nice.

I want to move to NYC just so I can have their banana pudding whenever I want. Or they need to open a store in Western Australia. Everything in there we tasted was amazing but that banana pudding? No words for how good it is.

I’ve been living in the U.S. for 9 months and never once needed to “prove” a missing food item. I have no reason to lie about a $5 pudding.

At the Magnolia Bakery Midtown (1794 Broadway), I ordered a latte and a banana pudding to-go. The pudding was missing from my bag. When I came back — after walking all the way from 40th Street to 59th Street and returning again — three staff members, including a manager, refused to admit their mistake. They were rude, dismissive, and condescending, and I felt discriminated against because of my limited English.

As a tourist trying Magnolia Bakery for the first time, this was an extremely disappointing and unacceptable experience. For something as simple as a $5 pudding, the lack of accountability and customer care is shocking. I will never return, and I cannot recommend this location.
