Magnolia Bakery - Moynihan Train Hall

I’m so disappointed ☹️. The staff and customer service is top tier but the red velvet cake slices were spoiled.I ordered 6 slices of cake which 2 of them were red velvet cake.I suggest during the hot summer months please refrigerate the red velvet cakes slices since the frosting is made from cream cheese and not buttercream like the other slices

Cupcakes were dry. The icing was good and not overly sweet. The banana pudding was okay but I'm from the South so I've definitely had better.

Didn’t get to even eat anything because they just let everyone behind us cut us in the line. If you value customer service, go somewhere else.

I ordered a cappuccino today and it taste like water. I told the young lady who serve me and she didn’t care about.

Thoughtless cashier let someone behind us cut in line and he ended up holding up everyone on line because he couldn't decide and asked the cashier what he should get. I don't what the cashier was thinking not serving customers efficiently on first come basis. I was just about ready to pay for the order. Check out process is often unnecessarily inconvenient and stressful here.

Another nice location. We ran in suits to here before catching the train back to jersey. Tried the red velvet banana pudding this time and tbh, wasn’t as good as the original. Yet, still made my night!

Magnolia bakery is my #1 spot. Tried cake slices at this location on 2 separate occasions and both times the cake tasted stale. Very disappointing.

From the beginning the food handler was rude and impatient, and the cashier rudely and loudly asked what was in the paper bag, when she could’ve easily peeked inside the paper bag. (at 5:48 she touched her hair and yawned with no gloves which already breaks the health terms of food and safety)

Personally, I think the management should show the staff to attend customers with kindness and to not rush them

This wasn’t a great experience due to the rude service I was given

An incredibly convenient location to pick up goodies from Magnolia's. I recommend the apple tarts and of course the banana pudding.

I always come to Magnolia bakery when I catch the train but this time I ordered 2 lemon bars but only had 1 in the bag. My fault I should of checked, next time I will check.

Can be found in front of the entrance to Platforms 7/8. Quick and efficient service. Came in at 7:30 so the banana pudding was just freshly made. Too bad there was no seating at all.

UPDATE- my first visit was April 2026. There were some mishaps but after my review the company reached out to make it right. I emailed them and they were willing to give me a full refund. What I took notice of and appreciated most of all is that they did not ask me to change my 3 star review. NOW; based on the CSTMR Srvc I received I’ve updated it to 5 stars. These days it’s extremely hard to get good CSTMR Srvc and I appreciated it.
I will say this, DO NOT GIVE OR READ TOO MUCH into bad rating that claim they don’t like how a specific item tastes. Everybody has different taste and it’s not mandatory for us to like everything on their menu. I went back a 2nd time and got the items I love, hummingbird and carrot cake, caramel pecan and blueberry cheese cake and ofc a banana budding. Again, my personal taste I would love to have it w/out the wafers but it’s so delish I just eat around them.

SOME STUFF ARE GOOD, depending on personal taste.
They messed up my order but I only realized when I was home.
1- banana pudding IS GREAT, BUT TOO MAY WAFERS. EWWW
2- IMO the red velvet cake was very dry and basic. Same taste everywhere, red velvet with cheesecake icing.
3- I had hummingbird cake with pineapples, and nuts, I don’t remember the name of it, but IT WAS AMAZING
4- pistachio cake was just ok.
5-we also had vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream icing. That was just OK.
The carrot cake was done so we didn’t get to try it. Everything else that they sell is your basic run of the mill sliced cake.

I visited Magnolia Bakery at Penn Station. The service was okay, nothing particularly special, and the atmosphere was pretty average. I had high expectations given how famous the bakery is, but the banana pudding honestly tasted pretty standard—nothing extraordinary. It was good, but not as impressive as I was expecting.

They have made some of the best banana pudding for 10 years straight. I remember trying the banana pudding when I was in college 10 years ago 😭 the red velvet cupcake I had was dry (not my fave). The cake slices are delicious.
