This place is at least temporarily closed. If it opens again, I will update this review. The review saying that is permanently closed with a new business is wrong, there is no new business in this location. The Spa is next door, and this business was located between the Spa and the grocery store. When it was open, this was a great place for Sushi and Hawaiian food!

The place is permanently closed. A new business is now in its place. I was so looking forward to a bowl! What a disappointment.

Terrible service. Well actually, no service at all?I ordered food for pickup, went to pick it up 45 minutes later and the order hadn’t even been made yet. Was told to wait 15 minutes. Obviously I cancelled the order becsuse it’s unacceptable.Called and asked to speak to a manager. I was refused and hung up on. Called back and was again picked up and hung up on. Absolutely unacceptable behavior. I’ve lived in the neighborhood for years and this is my first time trying it out because they never have business I was always skeptical. Today showed me why they don’t have business and why they will no longer receive mine.

These guys have gotten terrible at making deliveries. Literally you can make an order and they will just forget about you lol Really quite a shame, they use to have to really good service but somewhere along the line they dropped the roll.

This is terrible! I stopped ordering for a long time and decided to try again.. big mistake! It's gotten worse huge pieces inside and out. Warm inside and out! Why?Atomic green dyed wasabi! Never ever ever again

There are very few Hawaiian places in the area. My go to's here are the spam musubi, kalua pork, and bbq beef short ribs. Be sure to get garlic rice!

Believe me when I say Makana will do you right every. Single. Time. The food from this spot can always turn my day around. My go to is the spicy salmon bowl, which never disappoints. Anything with the garlic rice may change your life. The musubi is also an absolute treat!

I've gotten food here several times and it has always been good, but tonight, it was horrible. I ordered the katsu, which is normally just a breaded cutlet, but I was hard pressed to find any cutlet; it was almost all breading & what little chicken there was tough. The rice had been dowsed in a soy sauce and the macaroni salad had gone off and tasted like yeast. All in all, a thoroughly unpleasant experience.(Except the Plantation Iced Tea! That is always delicious!!!)

I got a salmon poke bowl on greens (kale) with a side of spicy mayo. It was very tasty with lots of soybeans and a generous serving of crab salad and seaweed salad. The fish was impeccably fresh and delicious. I would have liked a little bit more marinade sauce, but the freshness of the fish and my side of spicy mayo was perfect. I got to taste the yellow tail and tuna and both of them were fresh and delicious also! My mom got an order of iced tea with pineapple that she enjoyed. Prices were completely reasonable for the quality of the product.

I've had my eye on this little Hawaiian restaurant for a while, but never took the time to walk over there! I was very happy when I did! Their salmon poke was deliciously fresh! It was accompanied by seaweed salad, and an ample portion of edamame, and some crab salad. Everything was delicious! I ordered mine on a bed of greens, I was a little bit surprised to see it arrive on a fresh and crispy bed of kale, but it was actually very nice with a spicy mayo I got on the side! In retrospect, kale is a good base for a poke bowl because it does not get soggy like lettuce does, and can definitely hold its own against the fish and seaweed salad! I got to sample some of the tuna and hamachi, and both were exceptionally fresh and delicious! I personally would have preferred a little bit more sauce on the fish, but the light seasoning certainly emphasized the freshness of the fish. I'm really excited that they also have Hawaiian barbecue... If I can ever pass by the poke! I will be back! (Sorry, no photos because I was really hungry!)

There are, I think, 4 Makana locations and this is the best one in my opinion. I order from here all the time and am never disappointed. The other locations offer other options that this location doesn't but they don't even compare when it comes to taste. I highly recommend the BBQ pork tacos! They're juicy and tasteful!

C rated restaurant, very bland and stale food. Got food poisoning from the poke bowl. They need to take food safety much, much more seriously.

To be avoided, C rating and raw fish... not a good combination. If you look up the violations on the NYC gov site, you can see that food handling / improper temperatures were key violations. I got food poisoning after ordering a Poke bowl here. Outrageously priced at $18+, more expensive than midtown! The fish tasted bland and stale, only ate a couple pieces before I realized, but have been dealing with the unpleasant symptoms over the past day. Other reviewers also had this unfortunate experience, city should temporarily shut them down and implement a strong, continual control process so that people stop getting sick!
