The red velvet icing didn't have any cream cheese in it (couldn't taste it) and was way too sweet. The cake was dense and dry but the flavor was good. The vanilla cupcake with buttercream frosting was pretty good. The icing was too sweet. The cake was eggy and delicious.

I first visited here about 12 years ago, had a red velvet cupcake, and then split a sweet potato cheesecake with my friend. Before trying that cheesecake, I thoroughly hated cheesecake, but this one was so good, I sobbed while eating it and changed my mind about cheesecake altogether. I think about that cheesecake every day of my life. It's my go-to now, and I can't wait for my next visit, so I can have some more!

Been supporting this business for 20+ years and will continue to try to do so movinf forward. The cake remain 4.5-5 stars generally. Has been hit or miss in recent years but I chalk that up to new workers still learning the right techniques.However, I’m super disappointed with the 125th street location. Service is average. Low to no energy and zero pleasantries. One star off. And the portions have become SIGNIFICANTLY smaller (e.g. cupcakes are HALF the OG size) at the same or increased price. I get inflation is crushing everyone, especially small businesses, BUT the major change in portion size is incredibly obvious. Another star off.Again, I’ll continue to support this local usiness and will send others there too but it’s a disappointing shift.

Ordered a birthday cake (red velvet) from here for a party last night. Pick up went smoothly, cake was huge and beautiful and everyone at the party raves about how fantastic it was. The cake was moist and flavorful and the color was a deep rich red, the cream cheese frosting was sweet but not overpowering. I would absolutely recommend Make My Cake for any special occasion. The ordering process was easy And their prices are reasonable which is rare in this city!

I love Make My Cake - particularly the German chocolate cake - but also the chocolate cake and the strawberry cake. We get banana pudding and fruit cobblers also. Everyone is nice. They don't have everything each day, but it makes it more special when you get your favorite.

One of the moistest cakes I’ve ever had! However… the frosting is a bit too sweet for me (personal preference). The cake itself is quite sweet so having a sweet frosting as well just packs a punch of sugar into you. this doesn’t mean it tastes bad, just be weary if you don’t like your cake to be too sweet. I loved it though! :)

I purchased 2 slices of cake, one was vanilla with white icing and the other was vanilla and red velvet. I asked before purchasing if the cakes were freshly baked and moist. The young woman said yes. When i reached home, I realized that the cakes were probably moist and freshly baked 2 weeks ago. They were stale , dry and smelt a little moldy. I promptly threw them out. I tried calling the store because i live 15 minutes away but the phone rang repeatedly without an answer. What a waste of money. I wish i could give them no stars because thats what they deserve. Please dont spend ur money with these ppl.

Had a great experience ordering a buttercream-frosted birthday cake here recently. From the moment I went into the store to make my order to the moment I put that cake in my mouth several days later, my experience with Make My Cake was excellent. The sponge was moist, tasty, and never cloyingly sweet; the buttercream frosting had a rich homemade flavor. There are a lot of options for cake around here, and it's easy to just grab a quickie from Whole Foods or go with a chain like Milk, but this is a small gem and will continue to use them. Friendly helpful staff + delicious cake = what more could you ask for.

I used to love this bakery! I literally live around the corner from it and was so excited when they opened. Word of caution to you all planning on going: If you absolutely must go, PAY WITH CASH! The most recent time I was there, I got some bread pudding and paid with my debit card, only to get hit with 3 charges of $300 each two weeks later from Make My Cake! I changed my card info, but this is a word of caution that someone on their staff is robbing people.
