Where is the 6th star?! No truly, this was the best omakase I’ve ever had in my life. I can’t even think of my favorite dish because they were all my favorites. Wow. I can’t wait to be back. Just don’t forget to reserve a table. No walk ins are allowed I believe. And there are very few seats, which makes the experience even more special.Oh, and they are BYOB!Dietary restrictions: accommodated my nut allergy

This place is quite a hidden gem, it’s lovely and quite enjoyable. The chef can definitely hold a good conversation and keep you entertained. Definitely recommend. Also they gave out a free shot of yuzu sake on the house.

Intimate omakase experience. If you pay in cash, it’s BOGO!

TLDR: Very well-priced and if you're looking for a budget omakase with good volume Matsunori is good. The BOGO 50% deal for cash payment is great if it's still available. Flavor-wise though, you get what you pay for. Service is wonderful, really friendly folks.I saw the promotion and figured we'd check it out. You can also bring your own bottles which is a plus. The volume of the meal is decent and for an omakase meal, it's on the cheaper side for sure.To be candid though, probably one of the less enjoyable cheapish omakases for me. The pieces I felt were overly-sauced which muted the taste of the fish completely. Sauces were either too sweet, too heavy. I understand the purpose of it but I'd probably like a bit more minimalist dressing. The team is super friendly but just being honest - I think there are better options even at the cheaper price.

We had a great experience here. The food was unbelievable and high quality. The chef and staff was all great and accommodating. I would come back again next time I'm in NY.
A good omakase set but can’t say it was particularly Japanese. Needed more textures of fish. But very tasty nonetheless and staff were super friendly (and all Chinese).

Everything was very good! You could really tell the chefs were knowledgeable and very passionate about what they do. Did not expect everything to be so fresh and delicious! Definitely worth the BOGO deal :)

Took advantage of the BOGO 50% deal (cash only) and came here on a Thursday night. Arrived around 6:30 for our 6:45 reservation and we were seated immediately. The inside of the establishment was pretty small and bare-bones. The omakase set comes with 2 appetizers, 10 nigiri, and 2 handrolls. Some of my favorite pieces include:- otoro w/ caviar- unagi, foie gras, and truffle handroll - shima aji with yuzu- sea bream with shiso- toro handroll The sauce and toppings paired well with the fish, but if I were to judge the meal based on the fish alone I would say the quality missed the mark. The fish was lacking the slight sweetness you should be getting from fresh fish. Scallop is generally my favorite piece at other omakase places, but the one here had no taste. However, the overall service and experience was great. Chef Ryan was funny and entertaining. We made conversation and joked around the whole time.
Great & fun staff! Totally made the experience!
