When I walked in the host immediately knew it was me, so I was happy to know they were very well prepared for us before all the guests arrived

The food is great. However there is an older man (can't use gentleman) who is at the front door and RUDE. He literally has a shirt on that says “Leave me alone”. He is beyond rude and brings the vibe of the restaurant down. I asked for his assistance with telling my server I needed a refill and because he had to move a table as he was passing me, he rudely shooseed me to be quiet. Why is this person in a restaurant serving customers. Beyond a turn off and won't be back. Put him in the back to peel potatoes or something. I also witnessed him being rude to others. With high prices a little courtesy goes a long way with justifying the prices.

Excellent service from arrival and all throughout. Food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious. The chicken was juicy and seasoned perfectly, potatoes salad satisfied my cravings, and the collard greens exceeded my expectations. The sweet tea was on point. We will be returning to get other menu options.

My party of 6 was seated quickly and treated terrifically throughout lunch. All of the food was delicious, and I fully intend to go back again.

Great restaurant, food was amazing and the service was great. Food didn't take long at all!

Interesting venue. They have two sides one side looks like the original and the other side looks like a recent add-on. The ambience of the original side seems more conducive to fine dining where the added-on side has a very casual feel to it. As for the food overall was good but the fried chicken I had was quite dry but the accompanying eggnog waffles (sounds odd but trust me here) was delicious. The food was quite affordable with dinner for three costing approximately $115. The shining spot of this meal was both the service and the side dishes. The collard greens, rice and beans, and sweet potatoes were outstanding so were the garlic mashed potatoes. The mac & cheese was just so so but that's not one of my favorite side dishes. All in all, it was a fine dining experience.

A true Harlem gem* My cousin from Fargo was visiting New York and wanted an authentic Harlem experience — and Melba's was the perfect choice! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere radiated warmth and community. The food was absolutely delicious — he had the Fried Chicken and Eggnog Waffle, paired perfectly with a Strawberry Henny that hit all the right notes. The service was exceptional, attentive without being overbearing. The highlight of the evening was meeting Melba herself — gracious, genuine, and full of Harlem pride. Hearing her story about the heart behind Melba's made the meal even more meaningful. Her kindness and generosity set the tone for the whole experience. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. This is a must-try Harlem classic that truly lives up to the hype! ❤️

definitely visit Melba on your next run to the city in Manhattan. The food was excellent. It was very well seasoned and cooked. Macoroni and cheese with everything. The collard greens are great and so wiasmy catfish. You will love this place. Melba was there herself and she was so welcoming.

Melba's is a favorite spot to experience a delicious meal with excellent service, steeped in Black culture. We enjoyed a late weekday lunch. I highly recommend.

We were greeted very warmly upon entry. Our server was patient and allowed us time to select our food. Everything was hot and tasty when served. No complaints at all. I do have one request; and that is that cornbread or rolls accompany the southern cuisines on their menu. Otherwise, everything was fabulous!
