Modern Coffee House/Strawberry Bun Cake:
The stairway entrance kind of reminds me of the stairs at Wo Hop when I previously explored Chinatown.

This bun cake is light and spongy. It wasn’t too overpowering or sweet and it’s definitely an acquired taste.

I want to order a cake! I went there 5 times! I still couldn't order one! The cashiers said she didn't know the price! - she said she would ask the chef, and the next time she said she would ask the boss! I went there 5 times! In the end, I still don't know how much it costs to order a cake? It's so funny!

Got their macha roll cake $2.75. Not too sweet, didn't taste much matcha. 7.5/10.

I love their roll cake slices! I’ve had the original and the one in the photos is the taro. Both were so fluffy, fresh and not dry!

I also got a red bean pineapple bun, the crust on top was yummy and the bread had a good chew. The pocket of red bean filling wasn’t in the center so I had to take a couple of bites till I reached it. The filling itself wasn’t too sweet and was a paste that you could see the beans (I prefer this over overly smooth paste).

I’ll keep coming back here!!

Cute little bakery that I discovered from Instagram (thanks nom_life!) The owner is super sweet and attentive, asking what I'd like as soon as I stepped foot inside. Service is quick. Lots of baked options. I am a sucker for sponge cake so got the original, strawberry, and ube. All were delicious. So spongy and soft. There is also a surrounding layer that is nice and eggy. Inside is clean and bright. I went early at 8am and it was already almost full, can't wait to come back!!!

Brooklyn is Home

Tiny neighborhood bakery with coffee or milk tea for just $1.50 (!!), and fresh brioche-style Chinese bakery items ($1.50) like bbq pork bao or scallion twist. Senior citizens fill up the tables first thing in the morning, and then there's usually seats free later in the day. New, clean and bright, in the E Broadway section of old Chinatown a little bit away from the mobs of tourist around Canal. Cash only.
