I had the most appalling experience at Monarch Rooftop. My friends and I, all women in our mid-thirties, were turned away at the door because we had an 11-month-old baby with us (a Monday at 3pm, with the establishment completely empty). Despite explaining our situation, the staff rudely repeated, 'It's a bar,' as if that excused their blatant discrimination. It's utterly disappointing that in this day and age, establishments still hold archaic views and treat customers with such disrespect. I strongly advise against patronizing a place that values arbitrary rules over basic decency and inclusivity.

The only good thing about this place is the view of the Empire State Building, everything else was a disappointment. The drinks have cute names but are misleading and don't taste all that great. The food was worse with their version of dumplings actually being empanadas with half the advertised ingredients missing. The service is horrible. All the tables are sticky from countless drinks being spilled on them and never cleaned. We ordered appetizers and didn't get plates or napkins until we were halfway through our appetizers. What was the most outrageous is that there were some people smoking cigarettes right in my face and they didn't care about having a smoking section or telling the people to put out their cigarettes. In short, go here if you want a good picture of the Empire State Building and don't mind smoke in your face, but not if you expect good food or good drinks.

The lounge is so incredibly lovely. The views of the Empire State Building are so incredible and the ambiance is amazing. The staff was so kind! The only bad thing is that I feel like for nearly $20 a cocktail maybe the drinks could be a tiny bit better. Other than that it was so magical!
