This place gets a worse rep than it deserves.

I got the salmon teriyaki fried rice and it was tasty and the salmon was a quality cut. Cant ask for much more for $18 in this area of NYC.

The fried rice has good wok hei flavor. It is on the wet side, which I personally don't mind but I can see it being a turn off for some.

The teriyaki sauce was a little too sweet, appealing to commercial tastes (not that authentic).

Maybe don't go for the seafood fried rice and opt for a dish with a decent cut of protein to get your value for money.

I was quite exited to try out the Urban Hawker and Mr. Fried Rice was one of the locations I wanted to try. I got an order of the fried udon noodles to pair with dinner. There were options to add various proteins (chicken, pork, salmon etc) but I didn't add anything to my noodles.

Now I did order this to go but I have to admit that what was in my to go container didn't match the appearance of what was shown on the menu. That said the noodles were good and the sauce on them had just the right mix of salty and sweet. Next time I have the opportunity I'd like to try one of the friend rice options.

Ordered the no. 5 on the menu. It's prawn paste with fried chicken over rice. However, there was no flavor of prawn paste at all. I would expect the meat to be covered by the prawn paste but there was none. Basically it was a plain fried chicken over rice... $17 for that is extremely over priced. This place is a scam.

I was excited and had high hopes for this place but the food I ordered which is the Signature Singapore Fried Rice was far from great. It was very basic, didn’t have much flavor, rice was a little crunchy, and it didn’t look anything like the photos they have on their menu. And it’s also quite expensive. Definitely not worth it.

The Thai Pork fried rice was really good. It doesn’t look like much food but when you spread the rice out, it’s actually a ton of food. I would recommend it if you have money.

Came to this spot on my 2nd visit to the Urban Hawker and they have a decent selection of rice dishes there. I stuck with the classic staple of Singapore fried rice and I was a bit dismayed by the portion of it at first but trust me, it's very filling so it packs more than what you see at first glance. I took a bite out of it and it felt like an out of world experience. I don't think I've EVER had fried rice that made me feel the myriad of emotions that I've felt, it was a bona-fide dopamine hit. I wish I could come here almost every day but the place is a bit out of my way but trust, I will take any opportunity to sample such a dish like this again. I can't even fathom how something so simple would be this delightful.

Growing up, I have eaten so much fried rice, and this signature fried rice is among the top 10 worst fried rice I have ever tasted.Words cannot describe my disappointment. The rice was too oily and dry, and I felt nauseous after eating half of it. The few leaves inside are pretty good. It’s hard to imagine that this is a restaurant that specializes in selling fried rice! !

The fried rice may have been the freshest I ever had and the shrimp was just OK. I was expecting everything to be cooked for a minute or two longer judging by the pictures. The dish was a little overpriced, but I am just one opinion. I will say the whole Urban Hawker space is a cool concept, the space just needs to add a community free water station.

I had the fried rice with salmon. How they picture it in the menu is different from how it was served. The sauce on the side doesn’t complement the salmon. I was expecting a broiled/grilled salmon like how they presented it in their menu. What I liked most was the fried rice hence the name of the restaurant.

Overpriced and flavorless. I ordered the shrimp fried rice and for nearly $20 I expected more than a large serving of a mediocre side dish. The shrimp was cooked well but no flavor, the rice was just rice and eggs over a small bed of lettuce. The rice was okay, not totally burnt but not what I was expecting at all. Serving size was large and despite the lack of flavor I ate it to keep myself from feeling guilty over the cost.
