This place is great. Tiny little restaurant with a lively personalized experience. Food is amazing. Make sure you know, it's cash only. I had to run to the ATM after we sat down. The owner (I am assuming he was the owner) interacts with patrons just the right amount (not too much). It was fun. We were here visiting viewing apartments for a move to the city in a few months and definitely plan to make this one of our regular places to dine. Feels very local. Service was outstanding...
There is no place like this in NYC. You feel like a guest in the owner/chef's house. Humor, warmth, patience, intimacy — all good vibes. Maybe 10 tables in entire restaurant. Giuseppe remembered my dinner companion after a 11 year hiatus. Says it all. Food is supreme. Cannolis impossible to replicate. Even boring dishes like chicken parmigiana are elevated to fine dining and flavors. Recommend adding a little spice to the tomato sauce with the pillows of God.
My fave Italian food experience in New York. The roasted cauliflower and the pasta puttanesca are outstanding, the atmosphere is warm and congenial, the service is impeccable and Giuseppe, the host, is endlessly entertaining. Not inexpensive, but worth the tab and the trip. Note, cash only.
