Authentic Nyonya food is hard to come by and this place is sensational. A highlight of our trip to NYC and we'll worth it.

Taste and very good portions. Perfect for sharing. My favorite dishes are: pineapple fried rice and the ginger duck!!! So delicious. Service is great too. Be prepared to bring enough cash, no credit cards accepted here.

My dad, a Chinatown native, is a regular here so that's already a great recommendation! Definitely start with the roti canai ($8), thin dough dipped in curry. The Hainanese chicken with rice was juicy and the chicken rice is a hit. The masak lemak was spicy and super flavorful. Every dish is an amazing value with large portions at extremely reasonable prices. They have a few beer/wine selections as well, and we had some wine at $8/glass. The space itself is large so great for groups!

One of the best Asian cuisines I’ve ever had. Beef Rendang with Coconut rice, and a Guiness. I’ve been going there for over 20 years now. I started making the Beef dish at home now I love it so much.Hint save room Ferrara’s is next door.Sorry Nonya, but it’s a great pairing.Kid-friendliness: Excellent staff and service which is a need when you have kids.

When I look for an Asian restaurant I try to see how many Asians are eating there, this is always a good reference. We hit me full. Well served, I ask fair.

202403Cash only! It's quite delicious. There are many skewers of chicken satay. I was curious about the taste of Malaysian milk tea, but it tasted like Hong Kong milk. Hainanese chicken rice, dry-fried wagyu beef, and chicken-flavored rice were all delicious. The only dissatisfaction was that the coconut rice was very dry.

The Indian pancakes are delicious, the Hainanese chicken is good, the Bak Kut Teh is not recommended, the Tom Yum Goong is so-so, and the rice is delicious! Cash only!

One of my favorite restaurants! They have the best Malaysian food ever! Their beef rengdan is a must try. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is very homely. They are cash only restaurant. Their prices are very reasonable.

Highly popular but food wasn’t fresh nor that special, and overall overpriced. The good thing was the prawn mee. Although the shrimp wasn’t that fresh or juicy, soup base was tasty.Other signatures fell lackluster. The dip for the roti canai was too salty, roti was very light and crispy but nothing to write home about. Hainanese chicken was okay, could be bigger portioned.I also tried the squid in a house special sauce… tasted they just threw the sauce on top of some old squid and heat it up in the microwave, wasn’t even mixed properly. Shouldn’t have been almost $20.Drinks were bang average, too.Disappointed.

A Malaysian staple on Grand St. that’s been for well over 25+ years. Food is always great and their menu is now all in pictures ?Our kids favorite of course are their Roti Canai pancakes. When they were served you can see the expression and reaction from the size of those volcano sized like roti’s ? My spouse purposely stops in here for one dish, sarang burong fried taro nest. For myself, the simple but tremendously satisfying plate of mee siam does it every time ?Unfortunately we were too full and didn’t have any more room for their dessert ? Next TIME!Vegetarian options: Plenty of veggies, tofu, noodles and rice dishes to customize to your liking if neededKid-friendliness: Our children loved the roti canai Indian pancakes. And I loved taking their curry away for myself… a bit “too spicy” so they sayWheelchair accessibility: The establishment is on the first floor and has an easy access entrance

$35 total before tip. We ordered 1 beef horfan (chow fan), 1 Kari Ayam (curry chicken) and a side of coconut rice. The Chow Fan looked and tasted good. Not the best I’ve had but I’m biased as I’m comparing to the ones in Malaysia+Singapore. But it’s definitely the best I’ve had here (so far). It’s not overly oily like the ones you’d get in Chinatown chinese restaurants and has good wok hei. Plus, it looks so appetising. The Kari Ayam was a bit salty but that’s what the rice was for. Just with a poke of the fork and the chicken fell off the bone (you can see in my pic which I took after digging in) It was tender, fragrant and mildly spicy. Best part is it was not sweet – some places like to make up for a lack of flavour by making their curries super sweet for some reason. Not this place! Paired great with the coconut rice which was gently fragrant. Will definitely be back to try the Nasi Lemak and more from their expansive menu. Was a joy to have so many options. Although my heart ached to see teh tarik for $4.50Nyonya was an authentic experience. Singaporeans will feel like it’s home food too ;)
