Delicious, flavorful, rich yet delicate broth. Elegant ambiance. Super kind service. Loved it! Felt very authentic to my experience in Korea.

It was a little bit overrated if considering the price. Everything was fine but nothing stood out.
The signature soup rice was mild. For me it was a little bit watery, like the meat/ bone was not cooked into the soup.
Kimchi dumplings were delicious. The skin was pliable even it was thin. Kimchi has a nice flavor too.

I popped into Okdongsik while in Midtown East and was pleasantly surprised. The dwaeji gukbap (pork rib & rice soup) was comforting, rich, and precisely what I wanted on a cool evening. The kimchi mandu were crisp, nicely seasoned, and complemented the soup well.
The space is cozy and casual, which adds to the charm. Staff were friendly and helpful. It’s not super upscale — don’t expect fancy plating — but it delivers solid Korean flavor.
One minor quibble: the wait time was a bit long for a weekday dinner, and the menu is fairly limited (they really focus on a few core dishes).

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The staff’s tone came across as condescending, and it felt like they didn’t want to be there.
I also noticed that speaking Korean seemed to draw negative reactions from staff (as there are non korean staffs,) which was very disheartening. To make matters worse, other guests (particularly non-Korean) appeared to be prioritized for seating. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as everyone deserves to be treated with respect regardless of background or language.
And i would say most importantly - soup wasnt worth the price.. very watery soup so avoid if possible
Simple but does the job
Was ok, nothing to write home about, just good standard 국밥 which is probably not worth spending $20 for but ig its NYC price.

I love a restaurant with a small menu, and this spot does their specialty soooooo well. The broth is phenomenal, the amount of meat included in the regular bowl is crazy (it never ended in the best way lol), and the mandu was perfection (thin skin and stuffed full). good vibes, great service, amazing food— what more could you ask for!

I thought it was a quaint place and unique concept but the food was quite bland and uninspiring; the gomtang was like a grocery store carton of stock and popping unseasoned pork on top. Seeing the reviews raving about how “not greasy” the food is laughable — that is the BARE MINIMUM….
Now I’ll be the first to say that not every dish needs to punch me in the mouth with flavor, but the “flagship” gomtang is SO lacking in flavor that I would have rather eaten the napkins on the table. Even the pork wasn’t particularly texturally appealing, with a bone-dry interior reminiscent of bacon that was boiled then microwaved for too long.
If that isn’t enough, you’ll probably also have someone pressing up against you as you eat, because the waiting area for the attached cocktail bar IS the restaurant. All said and done, one gomtang, a beer, and a tip amounted to one of the most unsatisfying $33 I’ve ever spent.

I love how simple yet flavorful and refreshing the soup is. I just loved how clean the taste was. This is one of those meals that I fully enjoyed and it made me feel great long after eating.

On a slightly chilly evening, I ordered rice soup with a clean broth and a thin layer of boiled pork, topped with kkakttugi and spicy red pepper sauce, kimchi dumplings, a plum drink, and a tangerine drink.

No star should be available for this type of unacceptable quality of food especially the chef claims as a specialized item. Gomtang base is from beef not pork, and only pork at this place. This is a worst version of Chashu (Japanese authentic pork) dressed in Korean title that has no common trace. This garbage is only possible in NY, never in Korea nor anywhere else in the globe. Come on Gen Z, you should know better.

Dweji-gomtang (pork bone broth soup) is really smooth and clear. You could taste the richness of the pork while drinking the broth. The pork is slicing into really thin slices and it goes really well with the gochu-ji. The spicyness balances the greasy taste of the pork. The side dish kimchi radish is crisp and balanced the whole dish. The restaurant is a little bit small and doesn’t have a lot of space, but definitely worth a try for its pork broth soup

I visited late in the evening without much expectations, but the simple taste had me nodding my head the moment I took my first spoonful.
When you eat it with the provided seasoning sauce, it becomes spicier and the flavor increases.
The stone pakji was cooked properly and was delicious.
I will visit again next time I visit New York.
