An absolute Soho classic. I love this place. You'll need a reservation and it's pricey but it's worth it. The vibe inside is amazing, and low key cool. The food is delicious and clean and you always feel great after eating there. It's one of the few throwback places that remain, and still maintain what it is that's so special about them.

Thoroughly enjoyed sharing Shabu Shabu for dinner last night with a friend. The kitchen was a little backed up, but the food was delicious. Highly recommend!

Been here a few times & always had a positive experience. The portion size is a little small for the price point but everything I ordered was delicious and prepared thoughtfully. The service is very attentive and kind - our water glasses were always filled and our food came out as we were finishing up plates. A great choice for when you are craving authentic Japanese food!

Came here on a Friday night at 9:30 pm. It was half empty, likely due to being 30 min before closing. We were seated promptly. There was an It Girl dining in the back, so that was exciting. We ordered the avocado salad and I got the vegan cold udon. My date got the hot regular udon. As Japanese food goes, my udon was a bit light on the flavor. The broth was barely there in terms of taste and the vegetables were also bland. The noodles were perfectly cooked though; they had good chew: al dente. This, however, might be my taste preference (I love Thai and Chinese and Vietnamese noodles--all on the other side of the spectrum in terms of having strong flavor profiles). The salad was amazing. I might try something else next time I go. Ambience is very date-night-y and the staff and decor feel very traditional Japanese. I also saw an artist of note having dinner. This feels like a very understated scene, because they were hiding out at a nondescript restaurant... so maybe it's not actually a scene, but an anti-scene.

Very relaxed meal, intense and distinct flavors, in a relatively vibrant Japanese restaurant. The staff was very friendly and seemed to really respect the food. They made me feel very welcome. My favorite dishes in the tasting menu were the beef soup and noodles, as well as the misa soup in the appetizer. They were however rather salty and I woke up thirsty. I would love to be back.

awful. We waited over an hour and then they told us they forgot to put the order in. Not stylish at all and food basic. So not worth the wait.

Fantastic food with fantastic service. Try the Omen cold, you won't regret it.

one word; Awful. Dreary, sad restaurant with basic food. Extremely underwhelmed.

Had the handmade udon signature dish. Very nice texture from the noodles & the dashi was concentrated but not over seasoned. Also they make the nukazuke pickles which were nice and crunchy.

We took our daughter and a couple of her friends here during a recent visit to NY, and we all enjoyed a wonderful evening! The service was top-notch ~ our glasses were never empty, and our plates were brought and cleared promptly without us feeling rushed. To begin, we ordered the assorted seasonal appetizer which had something for everyone, even the vegans among us - very tasty! Our entrees included the black codfish, the skirt steak (both cooked and seasoned perfectly), the omen noodles (vegan) and the Kobe beef Shabu-Shabu hot pot, which was an experience in itself! Exceptional customer service and exquisite Japanese cuisine. A great dining experience!

Service is very slow. Food is great tho. Make sure to bring cash!!! It’s cash only or American Express.

Excellent food. Sashimi was fresh and tasty. Arugula and avocado salad was very good. Chicken was also very good. The cold saki in a box is a favorite of mine. I enjoy the setting; a nice place to meet with friends for dinner. Don't expect to walk out of here without paying a lot, though. I come here to treat myself and limit my visits to maybe four or five times a year.

Cozy spot with really warm service. The agedashi tofu is superb — the best I’ve ever had. So I’ll definitely be returning for that and to try other dishes!
