Had a very strange experience here, a man who seemed to be the manager or owner was extremely rude and a bit scary towards us. Extremely bizarre behavior.
My friends and I sat down at a table and a server came up to us and turned on a small light above our table. He left and we turned it off and I believe the manager came up to us and started yelling about us turning the light off. He was screaming at us “say it, say it” to have us say we wanted to turn the light off. He continued screaming when we weren’t responding because we were in genuine shock. He then yelled at us to leave. This was absurd behavior I understand it may have been rude to turn off a light that was a part of our table without asking the staff, but that was an outrageous response. He continued yelling at us out the door. This was aggressive and a little uncalled for in my opinion. I have never experienced anything close to this in my life- how is this allowed?

I'm sorry to say that, but go to the sushi place across the street. They have more class and courtesy and regard for the customer and less of the snooty attitude than Steve the manager here.
This place is a neighborhood gem and it has never disappointed me. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the food is reliably delicious. It has a wonderful kind of Moroccan flair. I often take out-of-towners to this place for a unique New York City experience, and they always love it, too. Recommended: the Roasted Cauliflower appetizer, the Moroccan Chicken, and the Flourless Chocolate Cake, which has a wonderfully soft, pudding-like consistency.

The owner/manager, Michael Ault is a disgrace. I told him about the food (the bolognese) & Risotto being too salty for us & he didn't care at all. Then they remade it but they didn't it was no different, pathetic. And the shrimp cocktail they must have gotten at Keyfood. It's really sad when you go somewhere & expect to be treated well & they disregard you & your concerns. Well, they don't ever have to worry about me coming back or telling anyone to come here. Pangea, you should be ashamed of yourselves treating people the way they do. I'm done.

Unfortunately was not impressed at all with the restaurant. I had high expectations for $25 appetizers but the serving size was underwhelming... You certainly don't get the value for what you pay for.
I asked for a medium steak but it ended up being tough and chewy. I had it sent back but to my surprise, there was no replacement and I wasn't told about it. The waiter just took it back and voided the line item, and I sat there for 20 mins waiting for nothing.
The service was also incredibly sparse. The place was empty on a weeknight and the waiter didn't stop by in between serving the meal to check up on us. It was also hard to get a hold of any waiter. You would think there would be more attention if we were the only table here.
I'm starting to understand now why this shop is empty tonight.

Met a friend for dinner. Food was delicious. (Risotto was perfect and the flourless chocolate cake with the perfect dab of a salty white cream was amazing.) Service was impeccable. Atmosphere was very nice.

Penne Bolognese was savory and flavorful. Salmon burger was outstanding. Service was good, atmosphere was very pleasant. Pricing was typical, not outrageous. We were in the cabaret room where the entertainment was fun.

The owners Steven n Arnaldo are the best which makes this place long standing in the East Village n the food is not so bad. They also have entertainment in the back room. Love it here.
Don’t go I beg you ……. 50 dollars minimum credit card charge 30 dollars to enter….. the lady at the bar Michele is a thief rude. Go anywhere else you will have fun .
Went to Pangea to listen to Alexis Cole (who was fabulous). But the service was non-existent--it took 30 minutes before we could even ask for water. Then they didn't have half of the entrees on the menu (which the waiter didn't know, so kept on returning to ask us to change our order). I asked specifically not to overcook the chicken breast in my chicken milanese, but it came out like cardboard it was so dry. Finally, the waiter (mistakenly?) added a $12 charge to our bill for tap water. You think that was bad, the people on either side of never even got their entrees!

They always seem to have some live music in the front or in the room in the back here so it's an excellent place to see something new or host your own performance.
Fun place to go, enjoy a delicious meal and a show. Outdoor & indoor seating. Coby and a team of entertainers put on a wonderful show. The songs and musical ? ? talents made for a fun evening.
