Great food, drinks, and service. Pasta, squid with long hots, meat dishes are all amazing. Love the large format bottle pour selections they've added.

My boyfriend and I went for Valentine’s Day we had a 9:15 reservation and got seated at around 9:50. By 11:50 we were leaving the restaurant only having had two appetizers brought to our table. It was supposed to be a 4 course meal. The staff was avoiding us all night we never got updates or apologies. We ended up leaving without having any real food brought out because it was almost midnight and the staff was avoiding us. I wish we were at least given a heads up when being seated about the wait time of the food so we could’ve made the decision to leave and have a chance to get real food somewhere on Valentine’s Day being that by the time we left nothing was really open anymore. The waiter also made a comment on the amount of food we ordered when we placed our order even though we put in 4 courses because that’s what was advertised to us and that’s what we were paying to receive.

Went for Valentine’s Day. Had a 9:15 reservation and didn’t get seated until 9:50. By 11:30 we only received our appetizers and bottle wine. This was supposed to be a 4 course dinner and it took over an hour for one of the courses to come out. Waiters were inattentive and barely apologized. Worst dining experience I’ve ever had, shame on the owners for allowing this place to overbook.

Once in a lifetime Valentines day dinner. I said it 100 times, i ll say it again the Ox tail starter is a true dream marvel of a meat dish. Pulled ox tail toped off with a perfect piece of grilled bone marrow and a beautiful bruschet chared on open fire. If there was ever a moment my date was jealous it was when I had my first bite of this spectacle. Service was best in NY, for a moment I forgot that we are in the cold streets of NY and was transported to a restaurant with a relaxed candle lit ambiance in rural Italy. I fully recommend if you are looking for romantic and relaxed atmosphere and elevated comfort food with client centered service.

Amazing amazing amazing. Our entire experience from the moment we walked in the door and checked in with the hostesses to the moment we left was exceptional. Warm, inviting, cozy ambiance and friendly staff, delicious food, and impeccable service. The lobster spaghetti was a standout! Can’t wait to go back

ORDER THE SPICY RIGATONI!! Came here for an engagement party in the wine cellar under the restaurant. Unfortunately they don’t have good hearters and it was 15 degrees outside so we were a bit freezing near the door, but other than that the space is truly incredible. So nicely decorated and great vibes. Service was phenomenal.
Food was decent but one dish was spectacular - the spicy rigatoni was the best I’ve ever had. Far better than Carbone’s. Idk what they did with that but they need to be pumping that dish out cause it is absolutely incredible. I probably wouldn’t have left a review but just needed the world to know.

We had an excellent experience at Peasant on a Monday evening. Our reservation was a little later at 8pm so it was a little quieter but great vibes nonetheless. Super cozy and beautiful restaurant with amazing service from everyone, and I think the man who is the owner, is a very friendly man.
We got the scallops and octopus to start and both were some of the most delicious things we had ever eaten. The scallops have a citrusy zing and the octopus has a little spice to it which is lovely-both come with delicious bread. For mains we got the rigatoni and suckling pig, and both are incredible as well. The rigatoni alla vodka has a nice balance of tomato and creaminess, and the pig is super tender and rich without making you feel sick-the perfect balance. We got the torta carpese to share and it was also very tasty. Great drinks too! Will definitely be back here :)

Recommend the roselle, a short rib and mushroom pasta dish. Good service with sharing tastes of wine to find the right glass. Sides are seasonal. We had the squash which was fantastic.

We were one of five or six birthday parties that night, as we kept on hearing the Happy Birthday song from various corners of the restaurant. So, very good for groups.
Known for their fire roasted meats, we found the roasts to be good but not amazing. We did, however, love the pastas. The Carbonara was funky in the best way, and the bucatini was well balanced between spicy and acidic. Both cooked to perfect al dente.
Inside, it's is very cozy, as you're surrounded by real candles. It's got a tavern by pub but fancy vibe. I really love the dim, loud atmosphere. I wish the service was a bit more attentive, as it was impossible to get water refills.

What can I say about this amazing restaurant? Everything and I mean EVERYTHING is amazing! Went for a playing with fire dinner and it was literal chefs kiss! Food was amazing, service is the best hands down, and the atmosphere is a vibe in and of itself! If you’re in the city, add this to your must visit list immediately!

Was in the Bowery area looking for a nice place to eat dinner with a friend. Stumbled across Peasant and called in to make reservation. Unfortunately fully booked on a Tuesday evening but bar seating available (which is a good sign for a fully booked restaurant on a Tuesday). 15 minutes later I receive a call back from the restaurant and the lovely hostess advises a table has opened up after a cancellation and so we immediately grabbed the table. I’ve never had that happen where the restaurant calls you back and on top of that was humble and apologetic for calling without any notification. Already a ++ for service and making sure the customer comes first.
Service - something you would expect at a Michelin rated restaurant but without the robotic nature. Everyone was so genuine and hospitable. The hostess our server and even the owners were so welcoming, checking in our table to make sure everything was ok. Definitely made the experience thet much more rewarding and fun.
Food - so delicious and cooked to perfection didn’t take any pictures but started with the grilled octopus, followed by our mains (Rigatoni & Suckling Pig). WOW is all I can say. Full of flavor, octopus grilled perfectly with no chewy gaminess, pasta cooked perfectly al dente and sauce to match, and finally suckling pig - crisp tasty skin with juice moist meat. Amazing dishes.
Drinks - tasty and delicious cocktails that are fairly priced. Mint Chocolate Espresso Martini is worth trying.
Ambiance - loved the decor and theme with old skool church pews and candle lit room. Just a great vibe.
Definitely looking forward to coming back.
Thank you @Peasant Restaurant for an amazing evening

Delicious food and lovely atmosphere. Service was perfect too. Highly recommend the hamachi crudo and calamari to start. All of the pastas were delicious, particularly the rosette. Portions are a bit on the smaller side but still filling.

I really wanted to love this place since I'm local and pass it quite frequently but it took me forever to get around to going. The food and wine were excellent - special shout-out to the sommelier for recommending a brilliant off-list bottle of Arneis.
My biggest issue of our experience came at the very beginning when we arrived. There were two hostesses at the entrance; after a short wait (despite being right on time for our 5:15 reservation), we were brought into the restaurant by a third person. She led us to a communal table, which I was shocked a place this nice even had, although the restaurant was only about 10% full and there were plenty of other 4-person tables available. I asked if we could have a private table. She ran back to the hostess stand to check, kept us awkwardly waiting on the restaurant floor for a few minutes. We were then offered another table, thankfully that could only seat 4 people, close to the bar but were told they needed it back by 7:15. Why did they need that one back by a certain time but not the original bizarre communal table they were going to put us at? It felt very off-putting and started our evening out on a sour note. The rest of the interactions felt strained afterwards, like everyone was being nice to us through gritted teeth. For the record, the communal table ended up getting another party seated during our meal and we absolutely would've been so cramped had we stayed there.
I wouldn't not recommend this place for those looking for a nice pasta dish and great selection of Italian wine but it definitely would not be my first choice.
